United States Navy USS Enterprise CVN-65 had an active service record of 52 years, and it wasn't decommissioned until 2017. Mean you could say it was around for 57 years. I think that might take the cake for longest serving Ship with the name Enterprise. Unless the Gerald R Ford class Enterprise lasts up to 60. Large ships are expensive and cost a lot of resources. So it's in the best interest of everyone (minus the enemy) that their worth is well spent before decommissioning.

Personally, I think they really screwed the pooch in how they handled this in the Picard series. Rather than retiring the F, and making the Titan the G, they should have been retiring the E at fleet day, and they should have then debuted the Odysset class F in all her Glory at the very end, with Seven in command, and the obsolete Titan retired.

Which is why he took a Shangri-La class tore out the guts of a Luna Class and stuffed them in, and called it a Constitution. He did what he wanted to do and what appealed to him instead of what was logical. It truncates the legacy of both the E-E and the E-F, in favor of the E-G. Starships named Enterprise tend to have fairly short careers. To the best of my knowledge, the original ToS Enterprise NCC-1701 "no bloody A, B, C, or D" holds the record for longevity. And for most Captains. Not counting possible temporary commanders like Jellicoe. There are any number of real-world warships with longer service histories. Even excluding special circumstances like USS Constitution, USS Pueblo, and HMS Victory. All technically still commissioned naval vessels.

A nice chronology, and an illustrious career for the Enterprise E. I like it. The only thing I don't really find plausible in the events of new Trek is the scaling back of Starfleet. I know the official story is that Starfleet/the Federation was placing the bulk of resources on constructing the Romulan evacuation fleet, which surely is massive, but in a postscarcity "full luxury" society like the Federation, dealing in 150+ planets, I would think that resources, production facilities, and tech know-how would be so massively abundant and re-locateable that a diminished fleet would not last for that long. In other words, even with the Utopia Planitia etc production, I think the Federation would be more resilient.

I still don't know what the Romulan Free State is and how it might differ from the RSE or the Romulan Republic. And I think current Trek forgot about the Remans altogether.

An exploration vessel under no circumstance should engage in combat where retreat is possible. This is due to such vessels being so far out for any fleet support that reinforcement or rescue is utterly impossible. Fighting defensively, in order to secure the safety of any away teams, shuttles, and the ship herself, is permissible. Fighting in support of other vessels also seeking escape from a combat scenario is expected. But unless the exploration vessel is in fact supported or within acceptable response range of other Starfleet assets, said vessel is required to seek egress from the combat area. "I am tired of sending good ships and their crews off to die... We send out ten and MAYBE one limps home with alien monsters clawing at their asses. When these 'welcome home' parades are made for the survivors, all I see are the dead and it sickens me." -Adm. Janus Westorder II,

One thing that hit me, the other day, while looking at STO ships, especially new ones, are that Starfleet seems to have dispensed with standards and interchangeability. Most notably, Warp-nacelles. In TOS-era we have the tubular nacelles, which in apocrypha were shared across various Starship classes, with certain appropriate size-scaling, when needed. In TMP, we see Connie-refit and Miranda-class sharing nacelle types, abliet with different attachment points. Even USS Jenolan (Sydney-class) had similar design language in their nacelles, though quite a bit smaller in size. Once again in apocrypha, we see this design style shared across several types of the era. In STO we see the Matsumoto class, a pre-Akira styled ship, having said Nacelles as well. With Excelsior-class we see a new sleeker type of nacelles, but on screen only it and Centaur class are seen to utilize said nacelle type, though in STO we see the revamped Columbia-class having very similar nacelles. In the lost timeline, with the rise of the Ambassador, there isn't much standard of nacelles, until we reach... The TNG era with the Galaxy-design language, once again having nacelles of shared design. This lasts until DS9, VOY and First contact, where the only shared similar nacelles are the Sovereign and Nova class, with differences in size and minor details. Oslo-class in STO does share the nacelles with Nova, apart from size. After that it seems that nacelle designs being era-denotions completely disappear. Would a video in the works, to explain this?
@3Rayfire
20 күн бұрын
An interesting point. Starfleet design in the late 24th century began producing a large number of experimental designs with different design needs. The Defiant has very protected nacelles to protect them from the Borg, the Intrepid smaller variable geometry nacelles to reduce damage to the fabric of space, the Prometheus which is a high speed long range interceptor has very Sovereign like nacelles, the Akira's nacelles are between the Galaxy and the Sovereign's. In the latest 24th Century the Inquiry class has a variety of nacelle options. In the Early 25th Century however designs like the Sagan, Echelon, and Duderstadt all have the same nacelles, which apparently are based on technology derived from "The Artifact".

On the one hand I'm grateful to Matalas and company for inserting the Enterprise-F into canon, a well earned position, though I'm also on the other hand, miffed? Irked? offended? I don't know. The decisions made have basically minimized the legacies of the Enterprise-E and Enterprise-F not giving the E-E a satisfying end and not giving the E-F the opportunity for a long and storied life. It also overwrites the legacy of the Titan and Titan-A. It all comes off as very odd.

Meanwhile, STO is the game, that continued the story telling of the original shows, and also made by true Trek fans it's the closest to the canon (Exept the new Discovery story lines, but they even managed to make that usable in "canon" Trek!)

The "Prime Timeline" sucks big harry balls. The only timeline that matters is the "Canon Timeline", and that's the hill I'll die on.

Why would a captain choose to charge after a undine ship into fluidic space alone... that seems reckless.

What ever happened.... is was Worf's fault. 😁

I am still trying to figure out, how Worf went from ambassador to the Klingon Empire, to first officer on the E.

It's not that hard to imagine at all. Being a diplomat was never Worf's thing, and he only took it up by Martok's insistence. And by this time, most of the people he served with, including his commanding officer of DS9, were long gone. And probably still being somewhat haunted by Jadzia's death, there's only 2 places he could call home; his adopted parent's place and the Enterprise. And the E just so happened to have a first officer opening.

@@HeadlessChickenTO I'd ay that he was pretty good at Klingon diplomacy.

@@nunya3163 Not really. In the 'All good things...' timeline he couldn't even convince Klingons from destroying the USS Pasteur with him on it! 😏

You made a mistake the battle against the scimitar at basin rift was in 2379

You're the second person to point this out, but in the video it says 2379 on the timeline and I refer to the battle with the Protostar in 2384, unless there is another instance of an error?

In the prime timeline, the Enterprise F is not seen verry often then gets assimilated and decomissioned....in STO it sees ALOT MORE fucking action. this is why i preffer the STO timeline canon over the one from the one Kurtzman offered.
@everettjohnson9374

It sees more action because as a video game they can just keep adding it to new episodes even if it doesn't do much. It's a lot cheaper to have someone sit in a booth for 20 mins and record lines for a season

Bit of an error you have here sir. Data (B4) was in command of thew E. Worf returned to kronos. They had loading screens that had this information on it a long time ago. i know this information doesn't make much sense in regards to the included Picard series events, but as far as the game lore is considered, those event didn't happen in this timeline, or at least not with the same results.

Star Fleet has always searched for more advanced cultures to befriend but never finds any. Always equal or less advanced races. When will they find a race that says "oh you need new ultra shield tech. Here!" or "Phasers? How antique! Try these."

Would it be fair and would you agree with me to say that it is fair to say that there are now two Lost Eras of Star Trek

Myself, I prefer the Online continuity because it was much better written that anything Kurtzman produced. And I also prefer that it was Data, restored in B4's body, who was the captain until her destruction.
