I was a huge Beatle and Lennon fan, living in NYC at the time, when John died. This was only a few months after we lost John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, so rock fans were still raw. I remember every NY radio station playing Beatle music for about a week: weather stations, news stations, business stations....it didn't matter what the radio stations normally played, for a while they all played Beatle music, non stop. It was sad also because there had been so much healing with him and his life at that point - Sean was a young boy, John had a good family life, and John's new album had many beautiful songs celebrating life. It was a very sad time.

I was listening to the radio at my sister's house in LA, preparing to go to sleep on the floor of her living room. Over the radio came the stunning news. And tears slowly ran down my face all night long. John was my favorite artist of all time, someone who inspired me to make music. He was the soul of the Beatles. He is still with us, living inside each of us are his words and melodies that lifted our spirits and made us think. He was and will always be a major loss to the world of music and to those who grew up watching him go from a young Liverpool lad with so much confidence and charisma to a well stated and colorful adult who stood for love and peace in a messed up world. Thank you John, my life would not be the same without your generous and lovely influence.

The last known photo was taking of him (with the honey colored glasses) getting into the car fo go to the record plant. He probably jus had the extra glasses with him for nighttime wear and switched them out.Lennon had a amazing gift of musical talent.Such a great loss. His ability to hook a melody into a hit song appeared to be effortless for him.

It's not strange in the least. When he was leaving for the recording studio, it was around 5pm as he signed the record for Chapman. This is just before sunset at that time of year in New York. So, he was wearing sunglasses. Some famous people do that. Obviously, as most people probably would, he took off his sunglasses either in the limo or when working and upon returning home at almost 11pm, i highly doubt he'd put sunglasses back on to walk into his apartment building that late at night. He was wearing his normal glasses.

As much as we sympathise John Lennon as a special human being who was on earth. What would John Lennon have said for not giving parole to Chapman?? I guess if he really meant his words, he would have said, "Give peace a chance". But showing our regret and anger of Chapman doesnt mean music has stopped or come to a stand still. Forgiveness and love is what John Lennon preached and his assassin is an example that Lennon's words were not practical but just a feel good statement for his fans and the judgemental word. I dont condone or support the killing of John Lennon. I am a big fan of Beatles. But that doesnt mean I become biased on reality.
