As she powered up and emerged from Bay 12 it seemed to this old man that she was saying "I have one last adventure and one good fight left in me. Let's make it one for the history books." In "Measure of a Man" an Admiral visiting the ship said "For 500 years every ship that has carried the name Enterprise has become a legend. This one is no different." He was going to become more right than anyone could guess at the time. "... and we must succeed! Let's ensure that history never forgets the name ... Enterprise!" They aren't going to forget Jean Luc, never.

I just wish Deanna could've been in that last bridge scene and said something like "I'm only just realising how much that voice sounds incredibly like my mother.". Since Majel played Lwaxana Troi as well as the computer voice (and of course other roles in the Star Trek franchise).

Couldnt ask for a better ending to the story of this Enterprise. Pressed into service for one final heroic mission by her old crew, to at long last, rest in a place of honor at the Starfleet Museum, to be visited and admired by millions of people for generations to come. A FAR better ending than laying on the surface of Veridian 3, a lonely and obscure planet, rusting away and succumbing to the elements.

Great vid, my only critique would be calling it the "Final Cruise" of the D. We thought Generations would be the last we saw of her, and Picard proved us wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up again at some point, ready to explore and push the boundaries of what's known.

"I rest, but only lightly. If called I stand ready to do again the things that I was born to do and if I fall in the doing do not mourn me. Know instead that I met my end with courage and remember me that way. My name is Enterprise." The note about the ship "resting lightly" is a nod to another historic ship which was retired after WWII but was returned to action an unprecedented three times. "When Captain Peniston took the podium at the ship’s 1969 decommissioning ceremony, he spoke directly to the ship, saying: “. . . rest well, yet sleep lightly, and hear the call, if again sounded, to provide ‘firepower for freedom’ [the ship’s motto].” The battleship New Jersey (BB 62) was returned to service for the third time in 1982.

@@robertf3479 Yea she couldn't do that...I'm sure she couldn't perform a half roll in under 3 seconds at full impulse with a thousand people on board either....oh, oops, she did. You let episodes of DS9 and a slow moving Galaxy cloud your judgement. First, in a battle where ships are literally just meters off your hull, you don't just speed around. Second, that cube was 10 times the size of the J25 cube, she had PLENTY of room to speed around at full impulse. Also with no thousand strong crew or their belongings, no cargo and Data at the helm, I mean do you need a slide rule to figure this out? We ate it up because it's believable.
