Carl Cunningham was my first cousin and my Dad’s name sake. Matthew Kelly spent his last night on earth laying across the bed in my room telling me how excited he was to have a chance to travel on the plane with the band. Carl, Matthew and other members of the band had their last home cooked meal at our house in Cleveland. My cousins, who had attended the concert along with my Dad, were the first to hear of the crash on a Canadian radio station, at around 5:00 am, as they were traveling back from Cleveland to Erie. I remember them banging on our downstairs door after doing a u-turn to return to our house in Cleveland. Tense moments followed as one by one, a reporter who was friends with my mother, relayed details of the crash and fatalities. The one that impacted my 15 year brain most was hearing that Matthew was lost.

His voice is still one of the greatest in all time. Many have tried and failed to imitate it. His loss doesn’t get enough attention for thwarting music into the trash it is now. If all he and all the musicians who died on planes had lived, music would be worth our time and money and not be struggling as an industry. Talented musicians have a moral duty to the public to go by train 🚂 ❤

You know more musicians have died at 56 than 27. The 27 Club is an urban legend, nothing more. Redding was 26 not 27...

I remember and the early 1990's when I was hustling CD's 💿 from Columbia House and others while using different people's addresses so to never pay up by buying a cd for $15.99 or $19.99 plus shipping & handling 😆 🤣 😂 I saw a Otis Redding Greatest Hits and picked it because of the last name, I listened to it and enjoyed it but didn't know about Oris Redding. In the summer of 1994, a whole bunch of my cd's were stolen when my dad's store was broken into in Miami (Lil Haiti 🇭🇹) so I re-order the Otis Redding Greatest Hits and all of his albums. It took around the late 1990's when E! Channel had the E! True Hollywood Story hosted by AJ Benza which was 30 minutes long with commercials and find out that The Late Great Otis Redding died in a plane crash and the water. They found Otis Redding's body after a couple days later and it showed the bloated deceased body of Otis Redding sad 😔 ... May The Soul & Spirit of Otis Redding and all those who lost their lives that day continue 🙏 to Rest Peacefully Eternally 🕯 ⚱️ ⚰️ 🪦

Like THE NEW EDITION/BOBBY BROWN movies..... The same formula should have been applied in making the movies based on: "OTIS" AND "THE BAR-KAYS" (THE TRAGIC PLANE CRASH!!) -THE REVIVAL OF "THE NEW BAR-KAYS" -AND "THE REDDINGS" (OTIS'S SONS, INCLUDING OTIS III AND DEXTER) THOSE BACK TO BACK MOVIES WOULD HAVE BEEN CLASSICS!!!
