All are great but what really stands out is Tony Franklin's bass. It is what makes this different. Reminds me of Jaco. Fretless tone, with those slides and harmonics. Very bold. Says a lot about Page and Rogers giving him the freedom to express himself thre way this incredible concert displays. Of course Rogers, Page and Slave are stupendous, but we've all seen it before. Let's raise a glass in toast to the unsung hero once again---- The Bass Player.

"When God plays guitar, he uses Jeff Becks' fingers " S. Lukather Then there's Jimi Page.. The Firm in Dallas TX- 20 year old me and 3 fellow Bakers in Wayne's new Ford Thunderbird . We traveled 300+ miles in a cloud of brown pot smoke, through a rain -hail storm and possible tornadoes. Hail the size of baseballs pounding the brand new TBrd so loudly we had to yell. tm"Throw me a Beer dude!!" or "Turn on the overhead so I can sift some seeds" The night outside the car windows was a blur of rain, lightning and condensation. Soaked stoned & excited to the gills....we walked into Reunion Arena. 1st song in progress. I'll never forget the feeling I had that night.... Hearing the strength and tone of Paul Rodgers voice live for the 1st time. Tony Franklins bass... And .. Jimi f .ng Page. I thought: "This is heaven my friends. And if it's Hell, I'll take it!" Always in my memory, my dear friends Wayne & Chris from my 1st 2 years as an adult in the world. Who after weeks of my daily prodding and contagious enthusiarum.... Rhrew down💲 for tickets from a bookie (most expensive Tiks by far we'd ever paid) We emptied our Savings, pissed off our wives and girlfriends ,almost lost our jobs and Wayne sacrificed his brand new Ford Thunderbird to drive us white- knuckle through 2 states of Tornado Warnings with the Hammers of the Gods pounding car metal from above . All for a glimpse of 2 Rock legends we were too young to see growing up, now playing before us live and in the flesh. 🎉🙏♥️🎸

From what I have heard from a guy who runs the largest Led Zep FB site, Hammer of the Gods, Page has had health issues for quite a while, sadly. As we are all aware, he hasn't done any form of live playing since Beck's induction into the R & R HOF, I believe? That was a long, long time ago. Page loves music, is music. Years ago there was mention he was going to tour, with a few diff singers, do a career spanning type show, but of course that never transpired. I am sure he would have been on the road performing MANY years ago if he were able to. The Led Zep charity show was 2007, over 13 years ago.

Negative energies do attach to positive energy in music.

This seagoat concurs. I actually did see the The Firm live in summer of 1985 I believe. They were a solid performing act. It was a challenge to break from Bad Co./Zep to make a commercial impact but you can see how great these 4 guys were live. It was my only chance to see Jimmy Page live and he really delivered. The songs were just not quite at the level of the former bands but good luck to anyone doing that twice. This show is a rare treasure.

After the 2007 O2 concert, I only found one clip of him playing live and that was as a guest, with JPJ for a couple of songs with The Foo Fighters at Wembley in 2008. This hugely talented man, I think, could never really move on afterZeppelin......he craved the huge crowds and the heavy guitar driven sound (which I love...Zeppelin is my favorite band) and seemed to get stuck in that time. Plant and JPJ followed different paths and muses. I love Plants solo work, especially after 1990. I actually feel sorry for Page.....sure he’s rich, but that doesn’t make for happiness. His great love was playing live, and all the production work, interviews, books etc can never scratch that itch. Plant was and is willing to play for 100 people, as long as he is true to what he wants to do. I don’t think Page could do that.......

Nice to see Chris Slade live. He has monster chops. Seeing him to flex them is fantastic. I remember the first time I heard Chris' was his work with AC/DC. I thought he was so boring, but he was playing down to AC/DC. Hearing his work with Manfred Mann's Earth Band really opened my ears.

Its extraordinary to consider the tonal quality of Rodger's voice by the time of the last number, in which he channels Solomon Burke so effortlessly. Not that there were many in doubt by the days of the Firm, but Paul Rodgers was THE preeminent blues voice of the classic rock era.

I saw The Firm in Frankfurt Germany, in 1984 while I was stationed in the U.S. Army. It was a great show. I remember as Jimmy was playing the first song, a string broke on his fender guitar, and a crew member brought out a different guitar, and he exchanged it very quickly, as if not missing a beat. I was on the floor, in front of the stage, next to speaker. Again, the show awesome, and I couldn't hear for what seemed like three days. I would gladly do it again!

Let's not forget, Page and Rodgers hit it big early in their careers. I always viewed The Firm as more "artsy" and not in a bad way. I believe, and perhaps I'm jaded, that we exist in one of the best times in human history with regards to music. Rock and roll, Motown, Jazz, Blues... Page is a modern Mozart. He was able to take a completely random arrangement of notes out of the ether and arrange them into compositions that will stand the test of time. He is at par with Mozart, Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Johhny Cash... You name it. He is part of what makes this time so special. I believe we are indeed fortunate. Then enter Rodgers into the mix. Wonderful.
