Somehow, I completely missed the role reversal until the very last one. I just thought it was a selection of diverse relationships and I was really confused till it clicked. Well done. I loved the way the one girl said "wrap it up" that was a perfect delivery

is this trying to make a statement or something? or be funny? because this legit did nothing for me. like if this was trying to make a message about gender equality, they skipped over a ton of issues... and if it was supposed to be funny.... it wasnt.
@EdWarren88
10 жыл бұрын
See, the beauty of comedy is that sometimes it's just about poking fun at ourselves. One of the biggest fucking problems with the world today is slacktivists who demand a broader meaning and "statement" in everything you watch on the idiot box.
@MrTsquared88
10 жыл бұрын
WillbertWallace i don't demand a broader meaning, i just want to know what this video was about.... If this was meant to be serious, or make a point, THEN i think they should put some broader meaning into this, because like i said, they chose to focus on very minor "issues" when it comes to gender equality. but you're saying that this was meant to be comedic? If that's the case, I didn't laugh once during this. they might as well have just not switched the genders and made this a video about dating...

Social 'norms'. Some seem quaint/weird when you switch them around. The vid was a great idea for taking a look at it. They could take this further and switch even more norm's to give people new eyes. I see no problem with women asking men on dates or proposing. Norm's give people a chance to understand. Individuality matters so we can connect with, embrace and be ourselves. Individuality and norm's can conflict. I guess the guide is to do no harm and be able to work with others the way that works for them, give and take. Also to realise that the brain works more clearly when not engaging a fight or flight response in yourself or others. Without norm's would people feel alienated? I mean it can be hard enough to for many of us to switch from operating mostly at thinking level and to reconnect to see what our feelings are we are hiding from, understand why we feel that way and deal with the truth of that in constructive ways. To then do that with others having some common ground of norm's help. As far as the progression of norm's go, as poorly as we mere humans often do it feels like progress in the long run to see that rather than grunting to have language, rather than raping to have something more mutually romantic, rather than cannibalism to design & work together, recognise each others skills to have enough food. I'm all for progression. No doubt one day humanity will look back on our norms as backwards. However it is great to have some of them, because so much feeling and living connects more clearly by having some sort of norm as a stage to perform from.

Not at all convinced by this, it just seems to over-indulge and exaggerate existing stereotypes that women are already plagued with, ie. that we have to be over-emotional, nagy etc. and that we're a drag to men in relationships who really just care about getting on and getting laid. We need to be establishing that these stereotypes are WRONG and don't fit huge proportions of the female population, not reinforce them!
@guitarpop
10 жыл бұрын
*naggy. You always double a single consonant that follows a single vowel (e.g. big-> bigger, biggest). P.S. You're also completely neglecting (in a typical one-sided view of gender) the damaging effects (for all genders) of the negative male stereotypes that you just cited.
@arkine11

So the guy's parts are all right though? Do guys always sit on their phones ignoring their girlfriends? Why do you think it only exaggerates women's stereotypes?

Luigi I wouldn't say she's being hypocritical so much as focusing too much on the well-tread female-oriented aspects. That said, calling her a "feminazi" is stupid and implies that you are anti-feminist, which is itself pretty stupid (and generally predicated on a lack of understanding of what feminism is).
