Your 31 baby steps did it for me. I was good at decluttering, but I usually only cleaned when it got me down, and then I was”pooped”! The fly lady system has been a blessing for me. Thank you for your videos.

Thank you for also talking about Hygge and showing us winter bathing and places you visit. If I only think about housecleaning, I get discouraged about not meeting up to my own expectations. I forget to have fun. I so appreciate the way you show us some fun, too.

Diane, I think you’ll understand why I’m posting this comment. This morning I had a dental appointment. I was numbed up and feeling a bit fragile, ready just to pay up and head home, but at the desk I decided to make my 6 monthly check up appointment!! When I got home, I put the date in my diary (a friend had given me it for my new job). I know this is basic but for me it was big. Thank you Diane for bringing structure to my present and future 🙏🏼💐🧚♂️

Hi Diane, your Uncle reminds me of a family member of mine because his motto was 'A job a day' and it still holds true today. Isn't it funny with all this modern technology with apps etc that people still struggle when the most effective method is a piece of paper and a pen plus the essential timer...... Job done!

It is funny I have finally decided to get on-board, although slowly. When I first started watching you, I didn't take you seriously as I thought you and your house were so perfect. Like looking in a magazine with people and their beautiful homes. Now that you have explained that you weren't like this before the flylady system. You have got me into decluttering, and have finally gotten into planning my routines. I guess seeing you have time for so many other things helps, lots. Thanks.

Today I find myself in near tears. I think I was grateful to the flylady system especially you and the secret slob as I focused on both of your videos. I am much more organized and generally have a little routine going. But there is so much chaos in our personal life and I find my biggest problem is organizing those around me. I am tired of being a slave to my family who are all slobs and disrespectful. I don't know how to assert myself and demand that they do their part. Having done this system for a few weeks now I kind if see that it is a bit like shovelling snow while a blizzard is going on. I cannot do the flylady when everyone around me is undoing. So let's say I shine my sink clean counters etc. Come back to the kitchen and the sink is full of dishes, crumbs all over, etc etc. Do laundry everyday but clean clothes are tried on, dropped on floor, trampled all over. When I ask them to do anything I get attitude and resentment. Today I just feel like crying as I am not sure that all my healing will translate into anything meaningful unless I can bring the rest of them along with me.

Andrea Marr Aww I just saw your comment here and had to respond. Sorry to hear of the struggle you are going through Andrea. We have 4 kids and I can relate to the experience of disrespect and mess everywhere. Sometimes it hardly seems worth the effort! Diane’s videos are great and I just came across the Secret Slob as well. My thought was well it’s not really me who doesn’t clean after myself but some people I live with lol! But all this is to say that I want to encourage you not to give up. Just do what you can each day. I know how frustrating it can be, but putting one foot in front of the other is the way to go. The situation isn’t forever. We are strong and we can persevere! 💕💕xo

Hey Lots of time has passed since your comment but i just felt i had to reply. I hope it's going better for you... If people around you treat you like you aren't important to them (which is what it boils down to, whether by neglect or on purpose) you've got to stop this. You'll pay for it if you don't. It's not a mom's thing, also lots of men struggle with this. First and foremost - treat youself like you matter. Because you do. Obviously this isn't the platform and i won't pretend i have any answers for you. Maybe, just maybe, some encouragement will help you. Maybe you will also find listening to jordan peterson on this topic helpful. (Highly recommend his book 12 rules for life) Just an idea. But please don't let it slip. If you let people treat you like a doormat your soul and your body won't let you get away with it. Strength to you. Change is painful and frightening, but you can get out of tyranny. Forget the dishes, that's only a symptom. You matter. Take care of yourself. Hope this isn't way out of line, i just felt this should get to you. 💫

I hope things have changed since you wrote this. I know exactly how you feel, there was no way I could get my family (husband and adult children) to help out no matter how I begged, shouted or cried! The amazing thing is, 6 months since I started shining my sink, they have all adapted without me ever saying anything. As long as I stick to the daily routines, including a quick tidy, the whole house has slowly got better and better. I really hope things are better for you now, keep going, you are not alone!

I'm very new to Flylady. A few days ago. At 80 I can't manage the house because was trying to do as I did when younger. A load of laundry is genius! I always had a "laundry day" and did it all. It was too much. The Flyway system is opening up all sorts of ways of doing things. I'll have a clean house soon!! Thanks. (where can I get the Flylady things like schedule book?)

I'm the same as you; in my work, I have to follow my diary step-by-step every minute of the day as I'm a Wedding Coordinator, but at home, I'm the opposite, my watch is off and I'm away with the fairies lol. I have an all-or-nothing approach, mostly nothing until the last minute and then work like crazy (especially if my mother is coming over!) Yes, 52 and still worry about that :-/ I did my first 'room rescue' today, but thought it was 15mins, not 5, however, it was hard to leave it so the timer was a great idea as I needed to make dinner .

Hi Diane! I LOVE THIS LOOK!!! it's so feminine and soft, like a spring blossom! It brings out your eyes and that top is fabulous! (euhm I am still not going nowhere near my clothes, decluttering all the other stuff first ha ha ha) Thank you for always being so clear...I know the flylady system since ages, but have not as yet managed to implement it. I find it very well thought out, I have read Marla's book, but the flylady website is extremely overwhelming (and cluttered ;-) I usually watch your videos when I want to take a break and/or when I am extremely not motivated to do anything...and I usually end up doing at least 15 min! THANKS! WHAT DOES BOB'S YOUR UNCLE MEAN??? xxx
