In short, Walten files is like a Fnaf spin-off... But with a story that you could actually follow.

its unfair to compare something that a guy knew what the entire story would be from the start to another guy who was making what he thought his last game with no plan whatsoever for the future it sucks how nobody says "wow scott somehow pulled interesting elements in his last ditch effort games in such a short time". instead most people say "lel fnaf is confusing xddd give me reddit gold"
@theonlyplain

@@sheehan3204 well i mean fnaf isnt really good game to start with so
@DuVious1
2 жыл бұрын
@@sheehan3204 The thing about FNAF is the first game does have story and it's a terrifying and well-done story. It's there, but not the main part of the game. If you want to play the game and ignore the story, you can! FNAF 1, 2, and I think 3 are the only games that don't shove the story in your face. (3 is a bit.. iffy on that). If you look on the walls and on the posters, you can get most of the story through worldbuilding. Those newspaper clippings in the first game, the "It's Me" rare popup, Bonnie staring at the camera in the utility closet, Freddie literally ripping his face apart. All that is just flavoring to a game Scott thought would be his last. Now, you can't go anywhere without the story being in your face, one of the endings for Security Breach has you defeat Afton, FNAF World is filled to the brim with lore, etc. The main point of FNAF is that it was a small kids restaurant that an extremely twisted individual used to lure kids into the backroom to murder and brutally stuff inside of the animatronics, causing the place to shut down due to the "rancid smell coming from the animatronics" which was decaying kids' corpses rotting inside. It's a children's' restaurant which was extremely dangerous for its main audience, with graying walls and old pizza being reheated. The point of FNAF now is that it's just a place where some kids went missing with these fun and goofy looking animatronics, fitted with metal, plastic, and fun colors. There's nothing to be afraid of now, it doesn't have the creepy factor of a place kids love and enjoy being extremely dangerous for them. FNAF has become extremely child friendly, mentioning almost no death, which is quite ironic because the first game lore is built around children being murdered. Cut lines from Security Breach suggest that Gregory was supposed to get hurt, making Freddy lead him to the hiding place as he's caught by Vanessa. They toned this down to "I feel you are broken." which is annoying. The FNAF lore is also everywhere, the first 3 games had it very concise, Four kids were led to the backrooms by a guy in a costume, murdered, and stuffed inside the animatronics. The kids' soul control the animatronics, and wander the restaurant at night wishing to be free. The second game had the parts of the originals stripped away to make the new "Toy" animatronics, however the originals still roam the halls attempting to attack any human they see at night. The Toy animatronics simply attack you because they're made to attack any intruder or adult at night. FNAF 3, the restaurant is almost finished and the company got a new mascot for it, Springtrap. It's supposed to be a horror attraction, able to scare anyone no matter what. Then, the restaurant burns down, leaving Springtrap to burn in it. Now, let's look at the games past that. In FNAF 4, you're playing as a child in the hospital, something happened to you as you're scared of all animatronics from the Freddy franchises. You have nightmares of them as you check for their breathing and hold the door shut when they're near, checking your bed for gathering Freddy heads, and the closet for Foxy. In FNAF Sister Location, you play as another nightguard, crawling through vents and checking the animatronics for any malfunctions. (I have no idea what the lore for SL is). In Pizzeria Simulator, you let the animatronics that haunt the main games in, then the place burns down, leaving Afton in purgatory or hell in UCN. In Help Wanted, you play through all the games as you let a bunny gain access to the real world through the computer, other employees noticing something weird going on and playing the game before you, then slicing their faces off. In Security Breach, you play as Gregory. A supposedly animatronic kid created by your dad because you died to his creation, an animatronic. He created other animatronics for replacement as his family. Do you understand me? The story is everywhere. Let's look at the Walten Files now. A group of employees are forced to fix up the old 1974 animatronics, one employee going to a place they're not allowed and playing a cassette tape, getting found by the bunny and tortured until they die. The other employees leave without hearing her screams. One of the employees go in the woods looking for her, only to be found again by the bunny, and presumably killed. The animatronics are haunted by children's souls, because their uncle was too drunk to drive home, getting into a car crash and killing two kids. The story follows almost all the same beats as FNAF 1, simple and concise, children's souls in Animatronics. Scott did an amazing job with the story in the first 3 games, but the theories made him make it bigger and bigger until it was so bloated that it exploded and went everywhere. The creator of the Walten files, hopefully, won't let it be that bloated.

Instead of rellying almost completely on jumpscares like FNAF, Walten files actually tries to show to the viewer how unsettling the concept of people being stuffed in animatronics really is.
