How is the downshifting? I had a 2019 veloster N and it did the downshift rev match for me. So I’m nervous to get one of these and fuck my components up. Can someone please tell me the easiest way or tips to downshift successfully

@@CreedsYT I have a 16 mk3 and downshifting is super easy, though the car has no auto rev match feature so you have to rev match ur down shifts yourself but it’s super easy on this car!

@Creeds YT it's easy just make sure u give the gas a little tap then release the clutch. Don't be hesitant downshift wait so the rpm goes neutral and barely tap the gas cause you'll miss the shift right when the clutch goes in the rps drop so u have to tap it quickly. Id be more weary of the takeoff being awd it might get a little lurky

Yet the RS looks 100 times better than both the Mitsubishi and the Subaru. And ford recalled the head gaskets for free of course and now people have been using them as daily’s with 0 issues.

Typically any 4cyl platform doesn’t get as respected when it’s not JDM. The RS is a wonderful enthusiast car if you don’t care about fitting in, same could be said about the ST/Speed 3’s which are cheap bang for your buck daily commuter cars.

tuning wise 2.3 ecoboost is a weak engine. cylinder 3 is wall is not supported enough to hold power and usually cracks in that spot. thats why people usually swap 2.0 ecoboost short block for power applications.

the 2010 focus had a Volvo design turbo 2.5lt 5 cyl that was in the s40 so it's not like it's a first for ford to have a collaboration between different car manufacturers , as long as it works and the price is kept low sharing technology if fine

I'm an OG owner of a Stealth Mk3 RS , All RS that had the HG issue were the first released and was repaired free by FORD. My engine was completely replaced because it wasn't a recall back then in 2016. If you love changing brakes and tires every 1.5 years to 2 years, then the RS is your friend.

The focus though all generations had more problems then that, fuel pumps, motor mounts, windows regulators, alternators, ignition lock cylinders, power steering failures, rpm jumps, rough idles/stalling, powershift transmission, faulty exhaust valves, excessive tire ware, suspension issues especially with the rear, the other huge problem was rust(starting out at least). Sadly that's just the tip of the iceberg which is why ford stopped production of all the focus cars in 2018, not that the focus suv is any better which is why they're dropping the entire line in 2025.

@@Frost_Tiger What he said. The incorrect head gasket was used. They used the head gasket that came with the 2.3 Ecoboost mustang, which was tuned for less power and smaller turbo, so it couldn't handle the stresses of the Focus RS' increased power and higher boost. So it would fail FAR faster than expected. The late 2017s and all 2018s had the correct head gaskets. Mine is a late 2017 with a 2018 head after the previous owner was a dumbass and blew the head apart.

@@ltrs1212 ok from what I heard it was a head bolt that wasn't supported correctly from casting with enough material (so being weak on one side of the engine) and made the bolt strip out the block and or cracking the block. Well that cleared that up, but that's fucked I hope you got a good deal on it

@@Frost_Tiger $29,500, 34,780 miles. It has a Branded title so that kinda sucks but it runs and drives like new. No issues so far. (Edit: Also I've heard that too, and they're sorta right. Yes the wall is pretty thin on Cyl 4 but that doesn't pose a problem if you keep it stock 😉.

It's neither legendary nor disrespected, just another hot hatch, among s3, golfs R , a35 and a45 amg there is nothing soo special about it. It lacks sport heretige of mitsubishi or subaru. There is simply nothing special about it. It sold poorly , and that's on Ford.

Mk1 had an awesome chassis and hugely tunable engine Mk2 had a mighty volvo 5 cyl, not so nice handling but like the mk1,it had rally pedigree Mk3 had neither a good and tunable engine nor a good chassis cause it was understeery as fuck, as well as heavy
