I was an up-and-coming comedy magic act in 1978 and fortunate to spend my first summer season at Cromer Pier, top of the bill Denny Willis and Johnny Mack and Millican and Nesbit (the singing miners). Johnny Mack was the straight man to Denny. I shared his dressing room for the 4 month season; I am so grateful to have seen and worked with them. Denny was a polite and reserved gentleman, while Johnny (the straight man ) was funny and exuberant, taught me so much about showbiz, and was also a prolific letter writer (I have a few ). It is now a period lost in the haze of time. All but myself and another act on the bill are all dead now.

Remembering Tumbler at booth 23.. He would turn the light on and off to the song "Everybody's going off". Those were the best times ❤️🌴🎶💃

His name was actually Denny, not Danny, and he was the son of another famous comedian, Dave. I had the great pleasure of seeing this performed live in about 1968 in one of the Alhambra Theatre's very last "Five-past-Eight" shows.

Saw him do this routine on stage in the first Panto I ever went to. Hard work! His name was actually Denny Willis, not Danny (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denny_Willis), son of the more famous Dave Willis.

I need the lyrics. Can't quite make out some of the later ones. Anyone?

I recommend you go with Denny's flow - without need to pick out each word! It's in the moment ....

@@jyotifraser7439 it's just frustrating not to be able to pick up the lyrics properly. I have to say it's the song and the singers I enjoy. Not so much the "comic" antics.

Je n'ai pas aimé cette version. Je la trouve exagérée, sans naturel, complétement différente de celle interpretée par Jack Buchanan.
