People will like if they like it. People will subscribe if they want more. Etc. And RLM leaving that to us, instead of telling us to do it, feels, to me, like respect for their audience. Mike deserves much worse for making everyone deal with his Ghost Adventures fetish and his deeply concerning, far from platonic, love for Zak Baggins which may need a restraining order if it progresses much further. For his crimes against Red Letter Media, his audience, and humanity as a whole, Mike should be forced to endure a movie marathon of the entirety of The Conjuring, Insidious, and Saw franchises. Strap Mike into a potty chair and apply a mild electrical shock every time he starts to drift off and fall asleep or go to his mental Star Trek happy place. That is justice my friend. That IS true justice. Sadly, it is also illegal in the 48 contiguous states, violates the Geneva conventions, and makes baby Jesus cry, but a Baggins level crime can only be met with a Baggins level punishment. Luckily Zak would be interested in purchasing Mike's potty chair that will surely be haunted after this experience.

@lutherheggs451
10 ай бұрын
No it wasn't...That was never an idea until that stupid awful comic came out.....That was NOT meant to be anything more than an easter egg for evil dead fans in Jason goes to hell, because the director knew sam raimi. They literally say it in Crystal Lake Memories, he thought they looked cool, he knew Sam Raimi so he asked him IF he could put them in the movie as an easter egg. There was NEVER meant to be anything about Jason being a deadite, nothing about the necronomicon, they were just mean to be "cool" easter eggs.

@@lutherheggs451 Literally a quote from Adam Marcus to Syfy Wire in 2018 "When we were pre-producing the movie, Bob Kurtzman and the guys at KNB said we're gonna do the effects on the movie. So I got to go on Sam Raimi's set for Army of Darkness. I asked Bob if Sam would lend me the Necronomicon for Jason Goes To Hell. I let Bob in on my secret plan and knew I couldn't say Deadite or Evil Dead in the movie because Universal owned the rights. If I just take that prop and put it in the Voorhees house, and use the Kandarian dagger as the thing that kills Jason, what I'm doing is setting up a mythology that Jason's mom wanted her so back so badly that she made a deal with the darkness. So she reads from the Necronomicon and brings about the resurrection of her son, so now the fact he lived at the bottom of the lake and grows two feet makes sense."

I still want a movie where Jason walks home from New York to Crystal Lake - encountering people along the way who render him the hero by default because of how awful they are. He "saves" a little girl, she thanks him and runs away, he finally makes it back to the shack, caresses his Mother's head, sits down, and just SLEEPS.

Jason X would've been seriously funny if science is so advanced that the crew members can't die and you just go all out with this concept by having the main characters not really... seeing him as a mild annoyance. The only thing annoying them is they can't seem to catch him because he's magic and everyone in space doesn't believe in that anymore. Also make the passengers even more loose since it's the far future.

Jason on a boat does sound like a fantastic setting given the isolation and the lack of escape routes. Maybe the coward of the group takes the only escape raft and gets eaten by sharks to enforce that swimming isn't an option. The cast can try fixing the engine or calling for the coast guard as Jason continues picking them off, the premise really has a lot of potential. I'd even have it end on a cliffhanger with a seemingly drowned Jason walking out to shore with Manhattan in the distance, than you can have an actual Jason Takes Manhattan sequel.

It IS a good idea. The heroes would have to figure a way to get Jason into the water so he drowns without getting killed by him. They'd have to trick Jason and trap him.
@ethansloan

Here's a thought: the boat Jason gets on is a anti-oil drilling protest boat. He kills a few people early on, then a storm hits, and the drillers let the hippies onto the platform since they know if they all drown right next to a stable oil rig it'll be terrible publicity for them. Now it's Jason on an offshore oil rig during a storm. The hippies think the evil oil drillers are killing them off; the drillers think the crazy hippies are killing them off. Eventually the remaining people have to work together to beat Jason. Obviously the big conclusion will have the platform explode.

55:30 My theory on the Halloween stuff is that DGG mentions how he originally pitched a two part film, but then didn't want to blow their load if people hated the first. So he put together his best ideas that would work for a single film. When the movie was more successful than anybody could ever predicted, he revisited those unused ideas and try to make movies revolve around them. With Exorcist I have no idea what they were going at other than the demon who is not mentioned by name in the film is credited as Lamastu on wikipedia and other websites is said to be rival to Pazuzu. So maybe the idea was to do a vomit kamehameha fight with Pazuzu in the sequels.

I wouldn't say the way Tommy was trying to kill Jason was completely made up. The Wikipedia on draugr (superhuman Norse revenant) states that "In legends, the hero would often have to wrestle the draugr back to his grave, thereby defeating him," vampires need to be staked into their coffins so they can't escape them again, and undead creatures having some weakness in whatever originally killed them is hardly a novel idea. The real problem is that, according to part 2, Jason didn't actually drown in the lake to begin with

I don't care either way. They set up something in the beginning and paid it off in the end. That's more than I expect from a Friday the 13th movie. I think the filmmakers went with the normal-looking dad so that the audience would recognize him.
@BainesMkII
10 ай бұрын
@@SupremeGreatGrandmaster The movie was very heavily censored before release. When Jay talks about it at 17:30, there are photos of the original corpse-dad make-up as well as a clip of corpse-dad in the original work-print. Normal-dad almost certainly was never the filmmaker's intent; it was just one of the many things that had to be removed or re-shot to appease seemingly near puritanical censors.

@@Hu...R-U2024 Around the 1980s, there was a massive "moral guardians" (parents, Christians, politicians, etc) movement pushing for heavier censorship all around Tipper Gore waged her war against the music industry. Jesse Helms waged his war against Robert Mapplethorpe and the art industry. Satanic Panic was in full swing. Leaders like Jerry Falwell and Billy Graham pushed the Christian fundamentalists forward. And of course there were complaints about movies showing graphic violence, gore, and "objectionable" content in general. The MPAA went particularly hard against slasher movies. Movies had to be hacked apart to avoid the deadly X rating. X was seen as the "pornography" rating, and regular theaters wouldn't show X-rated films. In 1990, the X rating was retired and replaced by the NC-17 rating, and the MPAA started relaxing again.
