My daughter has the X-T30I. It's a little small for my hands, but there are grips for people like me. I've noticed that many notable 3rd party lens makers are making lenses for Fujifilm now, like the Sigma Contemporary, which do not have an aperture ring. With lenses like that you can use the front command dial present on the X-T30II to control the aperture manually. With the X-E4 you have to find another way, since it does not have a front command dial. It might be a little easier to balance larger lenses on the X-T30MKII, necessary for sports or live events, like the 70-300.

I bought the X-E4 in 2021 and have used it for just about every type of photography since then, street photography, events, portraiture, sports. The minimalist style was important for me but I did buy the cheaper JJC brand thumb grip and hand grip as I thought it would be more comfortable to,use. But after lots of experimenting with the grips I find them unnecessary and I don’t use them now as I think they spoil the minimalist design, not necessary for a good shooting experience and certainly makes it unnecessarily heavier. Also the thumb grip reduces access to a few buttons so it makes it a worse shooting experience. I went back to the bare body and that’s the best way to use it. I’m sure I would be happy with the X-T30ii if that’s the style I was looking for (my teenage son has the X-T200 and I think it’s similar and ok) but I like the rangefinder style for street photography

One thing I definitely miss about the X100V is the built-in flash; even though I rarely used it, it was nice to have. This is also my main complaint with the recent Ricoh GR cameras - on my GR2 I only occasionally used the flash, so I didn't think I needed it on the GR3, but I ended up really missing it. For this reason I'd probably choose the XT-30II for the built-in flash.

I plan on getting the X-E4 and the reason I'd go for that over the X-T30II is the placement of a viewfinder. Especially on such a small camera, not having to shove your head into the centre of the camera (maybe getting it cramped into your hand holding the camera). Another reason is that I had the X-T20 (same body as X-T30) and while ergonomic, the build quality on that left something to be desired. The rubber peeled off on min eventually. The X-E4 seems sturdier to me. They're both great cameras though! As for adding grip and such: unless your going for incredibly small lenses, the grip won't really all all that much bulk. I won't do that with mine though, as I plan to pair it with a tiny lens (Voigtlander 27mm f2).

Regarding your comments about grips being unnecessary. There are two reasons for me to have the grip. 1. The stupid location of the tripod mount which is off set and is too close to the battery door so when the camera is on the tripod, changing the battery is impossible without removing the camera from the tripod This makes panoramic 📸 photography impossible. A grip resolves this. 2. A off set tripod mount also means that the camera is very difficult ro set up correctly for panoramic photos 📸. A grip resolves this issue by relocating the tripod mount to a central location

Well, your case is different and specific, but from my point of view X-E4 and X-T30ii are pretty much the same, only X-T30ii is more functional and X-E4 is better looking, so thats why I dont understand those who also choose X-E4 because of the looks and then add grips because it is not comfortable to hold. Great video, I also like how you still respond to comments after a year. I had a loaded question however, I just recently bought a lightly used X-T3, Gimbal, and ND filters, etc. for an amazing $650 locally! (my area always has insane deals) However after about a month, it seems a little big and heavy to carry throught streets, travel, etc. I posted it for sale knowing I can easily get my money back and more, and actually came across an X-T30 II with 3 lenses for $1000! Currently I have 1 singular TTArtisans 35mm 1.8. I'm wondering should I sell off the X-T3 (for a profit), and go for the X-T30ii. Besides 4k 60, dual card slot, and WR, what more do I actually lose? I do shoot video often, but not professionally. Not sure if even need 4k 60 so maybe I go X-S10 since it's also smaller and has a flip out screen, or even just go for the new X-S20? I'm honestly so torn, but at the same time I'm happy my area has so many good deals. X-S10's and X-E4's in my area are relatively cheap here too. I'd also like to add I shoot city scapes, street photography, travel photography, and the occasional sports. I just sold my Canon M50 II, which I had before this so the dials are new and pretty interesting to me, but I can also live without them.

Hey, thanks for your kind words, I appreciate that! Considering your case the biggest downside going from X-T3 to X-T30II is that when shooting 4k it can overheat over time, so it depends how much do you film and how long takes do you make. If you shoot short takes for 5 sec or so, then it might be ok, but for longer shooting there is real possibility of overheating, especially in the summer. Then I dont know if both cameras has same batteries, but X-T30ii shooting 4k drains battery pretty fast. But in return you get smaller camera that is much easier to carry around. Then besides what you have mentioned I cant come up with other differences at the moment. I think the best way for you would be to rent X-T30II for a day or go to camera store with your X-T3 and compare side by side how fast both cameras overheats shooting 4k, then you will know for sure will X-T30II recording time be enough for you or not. If you wont forget let me know what you eventually decided to stick with X-T3 or go for X-T30II.

@@ShotsByJev I was not aware at all of the overheating issues, thanks for the insight. I went and ended up buying the X-T30II, just because the deal was too good. Having both in hand, the smaller size is really intriguing. Where I live it can get quite hot so overheating might be a worry, even if I shoot about 20% video. I'm gonna go and just shoot both of them, but to be honest the future proof choice seems to be X-T30ii. The size, portability, built in flash, newer film sims, and jpegs out of camera. Overheating may be a concern, but everything else has me leaning X-T30ii. Your dedicated X-T30ii video also mentions that the X-T30ii is not a professional camera, but do you think I can eventually use it professionally? Anyway your videos helped a lot :)

Well, if you plan shoot videos like mine from Berlin then you will be fine as it wont overheat, just if you will shoot continiously for some time. Regarding that this isnt a professional camera the main point was the size. With this size it is a bit hard to work with it professionally especially if you attach bigger lens that would make the kit front heavy, but if you going to film with it, put lets say into stabilazer ir cage and overheating wont be an issue then ofcourse you will be able to do some professional work as sensor and processor is the same as in X-T4

The XT series looks somewhat toy-like to me, but of course it's a great camera. I am seriously thinking about getting rid of them all and getting an XE4 a pancake and a zoom, but then I think 💭...is an XT5 really all that much bigger? I do need to do some occasional professional video with a mic. Is 2 centimeters or whatever, really so much when it's in the messenger bag? Ach. Too many great options! Subbed. BTW those front grips mess up the looks XE4!

Yeah, with x100 you have that constant feeling, that you should be able to get more out of it, especially considering x100v price. As you mentioned x70 I think ideal combination would be xt30ii or xe4 and x70, the last one is true compact only with wider f2.8 aperture, but for day shooting its perfectly enough. If you considering xt5 it depends how you plan to carry it. In my case I wanted a camera that would fit in a fanny pack and won't be that noticeable waring on the neck, so bigger xt5 wont fit in those criteria. By the way xt30ii has mic input, only its 2.5mm so you would need to get an adaptor. Although if you consider filming with stabiliser I imagine it could be harder to balance than bigger cameras

Well, I agree and disagree, this camera doesnt pretend to be a pro camera, it is more for casual shooting, also the price is bellow 1000$ so I dont see how it could be fit in that price as well as in this small size. I solved this issue by having XC15-45 lens with OIS

I have the X-E4. My main camera is and X-T5. I got the thumb thingy because I kept moving the exposure compensation dial. When I tried an X-T30 the Q button was just in the wrong place and I'd have bought the thumb rest for that. The grip for either. I use my X-E4 on a tripod from time to time. The grip has Arca Swiss built in. No brainer. Lives in my bag otherwise.

I had concerns for Q button on XT30ii but never press it by accident so thats fine. But if grips dont bother you then go for it and use it how you like it!

Hi Jevgenij. Thank you for this video you made. I have an XT3 but contemplating on selling/trading it and getting an XT30ii due to its compact form factor and the Classic Negative film sim. However, I'm having 2nd thoughts as I'd be losing the WR feature of the XT3. So, curiously, I was just wondering how the XT30ii held up if you had used it on dusty environments or extreme weather conditions (not that one's going to be intentional in using the XT30ii in such circumstances but just wanted to know if it could survive not being penetrated by dust particles which may cause damage within its internal components). Thank you.

Hey! Unfortunatelly I havent used my fuji in extreme conditions as it is mainly travel camera and my tripa a pretty light, but I would suggest to stick with XT3, The Classic Neg film sim is a marketing bit that makes you want a newer model, but in practice its not that crucial to have. The only area where XT30ii might be better is size, if your main complain with XT3 is the size then sure, go ahead and make a swap, for me this size is perfect for casual shootings. So it comes down to what do you need more WR or compact size and additional film sim. Hope that helps :)

@@ShotsByJev Thanks for your response. No, the size is fine. However, since I'm after that old filmic look that Classic Neg sim renders on 2019-XTrans4 cameras and up (Discovered it when I got my X100v), I was hooked and desiring to want more. While you can get that Classic Neg film sim thru either Capture One's or Lightroom's Fujilfim Color Profile, these just don't render similarly what the XTrans4 processor in-body cameras do. I don't intentionally use my camera gears in extreme weather. However, in situations where conditions may change abruptly, like the beach for instance where sudden gusts of wind may bring sea damps that may compromise non-WR bodies' sensors forming dew on them. In our country, there are lots of beaches BUT I don't frequent them. Yet, I live in a predominantly humid environment. I'll just have to see if the XT3's WR and robust build is worth sacrificing for an X-T30ii or even an XS10 (which may possess some sort of robustness as long as that hotshoe is covered: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tKms2q14jWVkoXYsi=k-mgA0vpwkQSqdhy ) which both have Classic Neg on them. Maybe you have further comments? Thank you.

My ‘choice’ was slightly different, I was going to choose between the x100v and the X-E4. I like the kind of images people were getting with both, but liked the more ‘compactness’ of the E4 plus the interchangeable lens mite b useful … But ‘of course’ neither camera is available at sensible prices at now, so I’ll have to think again …

Its not always, I for example keep my X-T30II on the desk because its looks good, so when I am not shooting it can be addition to the interior. But then again, if you need camera with grips why not to buy camera that has grip in the first place?

@@ShotsByJev because a I prefer the viewfinder placement and lack of a fake prism bump as well as the flatter top of the camera and other aspects of the design. You're sort of pretending that these cameras look exactly the same except for the grip and they don't. The aesthetics are quite different. If my Nikon FM2 was my favorite looking camera I'd be more drawn to the XT-30, but I always kind of preferred my Pen FT. Also since the grip is removable I have an option of using it with or without the grip depending on the situation. You can also use the grip or other accessories as an opportunity for personal expression or customization for your needs. Custom wood/leather grip? Video cage? 3D-printed grip hiding an airtag? Leather half case? Slow going leisurely photo day and want to go more minimal? Check. Fast-paced event shoot and want the extra grip? Check. You've got a canvas for personalization and expression. The rear grip thumbs-up also really has that film lever vibe, reminds me a lot of the film lever on my Pen FT.

@@benbunch4159 well your so called prism bump on XT30ii isnt fake as it houses the flash. I just expressed my opinion, if you compare XE4 and XT30 then the first one looks better, yes, but it sacrifices in usability, as for me XE4 wasnt comfortable to hold. But for me all that nice design is wiped away with additional grips and your point of being able to remove grips sounds inconvinient as if I attach something that helps the comfort I wont be removing it. Again Im sharing my opinion. If someone likes adding grips to the camera and feel that way their XE4 looks best then good for them Im just not one of them, someone even buy colorful skins for their cameras. I prefer stock option as it was designed thats all

@@ShotsByJev Yeah I personally don't care for the look of that type of EVF and flash placement on mirrorless cameras when there's more elegant ways to do it though they do sometimes end up over-engineered. I feel like that SLR styling doesn't take advantage of what mirrorless can do. A camera can look like anything now yet we're still making ones that look like cameras. In any case it's all to taste which is subjective as you say. I'm just addressing that the grip is not the only subjective factor in the aesthetic difference of these cameras. And one of the great things about Fujifilm is you can make the choice of camera based on the form factor you like and not compromise image quality which is fantastic.

Yes, absolutelly recommend, I took mine with XF 27mm f2.8 lens, so I think it would be great to start out with as it is very compact. If you want a but wider and brighter lens then you can take a look at XF23mm lens, but it will be bigger

The XT30 front grip is not enough to handle it comfortably. And most small body cameras need a thumb and front grip, specially if you have big hands.
@ShotsByJev
11 ай бұрын
Well if the body is to small for you then just don’t buy it! There is enough models with bigger grips like X-S or X-H series, plenty to choose from, but it seems that it is easier to follow the hype train, buy flat X-E4 and the realise that behind that hype it isnt that comfortable to hold in hands

@@ShotsByJev wow interesting, I used dual xt4’s for wedding for a little while but ultimately moved over to Sony for a few reasons one being the dials being a pain in the ass in fast pace scenarios. I feel like unless you get a Ricoh gr you will never really have anything too compact because you will need a bag if it doesn’t fit in your pocket . I have an x100v and I have to bring a bag for a daily carry . My a7iv sits at home always .

Well, I want to have ability to interchange lenses, I had X100F but sold it because of this reason, so Ricoh wouldn’t be an option for me, but XT30ii with lets say 27mm f2.8 should fit in fanny pack, so that would be ideal without the need to carry backpack for the camera
