This is how I felt - I wouldn’t root for Remco because he didn’t seem too likable. But after getting to know him through this interview and him taking the time for my favorite cycling podcast, I will root for him now.

Just got around to watching this interview in Oct 2023. I too thought Remco was arrogant from media reports but started to think they were wrong when i watched the Vuelta and found that Remco's comments/complaints were spot on and made sense to me. This interview confirms that Remco is a decent guy and that the media are misrepresenting him.

When the interviewers know their shit, it makes such a huge difference to the quality of the interview. Remco does so many interviews with host who don't know what they are talking about, that it's probably refreshing for him to do an interview like this. I hope you guys pursue doing more interviews with riders even if they aren't as well known as Remco

The Internet is a little bit like an" American Idol "style vehicle. You see someone early on like LR - before LRCP, before Benji, someone who was taking Cosmo material to the next level and you think to yourself " this guy could go places". Then you see every step along the way and you feel like you are part of the ride.

Yes!!! There's nothing I like more than being put in my place and being demonstrated I was wrong. Like You said, Remco has that arrogant label but this interview has shown the real him. Talking as much as He wanted. Explaining himself and giving his own opinions. He is a great likeable guy in the short distances and that's what us, fans want to see from pro riders (apart of course from battle and racing). Thanks to this interview I have now converted myself to a Remco fan 😅. I hope I see him this winter around Calpe.

Just contemplating ... Media shoud be prohibited to shove a mike into one's face seconds after a race. These guys are either gasping for air and have their adrenaline still pumping. Remember the 'Balls' thing? On top of that, that was completly pulled out of context because the media had to make a 2 minute clip, leaving out all that was said after ... so you get the trolls going. I think this interview had him answering humble and relaxed, admitting to his mistakes and being quite frank about who he 'values' more. The guy is a winner, but still, indeed a 'Cool Cat'. I can tell you, he is very likeable. Edit: what I forgot to mention ... Hardly any of these guys are native English speakers.

i was right in thinking Remco wanted more science at quickstep when the comments came out. That it wasn't so much about teammates but he himself feeling he isn't quite yet fighting with the same weapons prep wise.

Agree. But given that they already made big improvements there this season i think they will get there.

Great interview, for the moment I thought Remco is a part of Lantern Rouge gamg, the chemistry was that good
