Love It or loathe, need it or not do not detract from another great informative video. Thank you. I am assuming that because it's still in development that's why you didn't let Burt in to the video getting his hands on it😂

Thanks Brian. I'm gonna stick to my to my 5m double sided tape measure for the moment. Anything beyond 3mm is above my skill level. And bank account. Take care & stay safe.

Dogg man, "Tech tool talk, or Tool tech talk?" That's what we need here in this shop, an electric pencil! How much? We'll need two; you know why: because we have nothing else to do with a hundred bucks. Ah, Woodpecker's. Push-ups.

If you want to get Burt out of the shop for a while tell him to use this tool to measure how far to the nearest class 6 store (think military terms)

Haha! Love it. I was thinking about having him measure the distance from one corner to the next over at the street salt storage building. Last time he had to take a leak I told him to take a pee in the corner over there and he was gone for a full month! :)

Hey Bryan- that’s an interesting tool, to be sure. I’m trying to figure out exactly how to use it to measure and mark a piece for a project. I didn’t actually see you use one of the pencils to either, mark a piece, or draw a line on something. The scale aspect would be huge advantage, and would make my triangular scale rulers obsolete when I’m drawing up big projects to scale. Keep us updated on when the tool application gets updated. Thanks for the video.

Great points Michael. This product I think will be an excellent choice for anyone who works with plans or blueprints. I wish I worked more with plans. The scale ruler thing is really powerful. You are totally right I probably should have shown more with the pencils. Just thought that would bore people. I like the metal shaft of the pencils, they feel really sturdy. Thanks again for watching really appreciate it!

.. From a gadget point of view Brian, wow.. An interesting find! ...but I think that you are taking the opisometer in suggesting it might have a practical use in woodworking...too many limitations.. ..stick a digital compass in it and some sights and an inclinometer and it would be great for old school navigating! Great points antomac! I think this will be an excellent tool for engineers or an architect. If nothing else I now have a metal pencil haha! Thanks so much for watching, and get points!

How do the pencils work?
@FlynndoggWoodwork

Great question. They are basically a metal frame and the tips are all graphite. The graphite is attached to a metal screw that you screw into the pencil. Thanks so much for watching and commenting rjdavis!

I'm one who loves all of the gadgets, but this one is a few feet too far for me. It is pretty but it seems very limited. How do I measure in a corner? Worse inside to inside edges? Is there a setting that takes into account the wheel radius? Changing modes over Bluetooth seems more than a little clunky. Scaling is a neat idea but the error in the start and endpoints is multiplied by the scale. Architects are pretty fussy about their rules and paper. Like I said, I love all of the toys but this one is a bit out there. I buy my share of cool tools (Woodpeckers One-time tools, anyone?) then find they're not as useful as I thought they would be. It's like the electronic miter saw ruler you demo'd a few months ago. I'm not sure I want to feed the entire board through the roller to measure it, when I can use the ruler on the fence/stop without feeding it through. Cool tool but a solution looking for a problem, IMO.

Great questions kwilliams. I think this tool is probably better suited for engineers, architects and draftspersons. I think it's strongest feature is the scale ruler for scaling things up or down and looking at plans without specific measurements. It was interesting to check it out! Thanks so much for watching!

I have only joined in on one kickstarter before and I LOVE the French Press that I bought, but sadly the company didn’t take off after the kickstarter. The only problem with kickstarters is that their design will be stolen and reproduced by cheap crap almost immediately and it will flood the market and damage the inventor/company. If they are able to mass produce these products then they have a chance to beat China to market and they will have some longevity; otherwise they will go belly up in no time and there won’t be any product support.
