The largest of them all, the Wellington pavilion, is the architectural jewel of the Westminster Ponds Centre. It was originally built to serve as an administration building, dining room, and recreational facility - with the remnants of a two-lane bowling alley still occupying the basement today. This once beautiful 9,000 square foot building is slated to become a community destination and centrepiece of the Westminster Ponds Centre for Environment and Sustainability.
The Huron pavilion is now home to the Thames Valley District School Board’s environmental leadership program for high school students, and also Childreach’s Wild Child program that aims to demystify the risks of outdoor free play with children.
The building known as the Bruce is now home to the offices of ReForest London and several community partners - acting as a transformed and accessible space for collaboration.
This site is located on the traditional territories of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Lunaapeewak peoples-peoples and Nations who have longstanding relationships to the land, water, and region of southwestern Ontario. With such a rich history, ReForest London and the Westminster Ponds Centre, are guided by a mission of environmental sustainability, education, outreach, and the restoration of biodiversity.
