1893 was also the year that the Gaelic League or Conradh na Gaeilge was founded with Hyde as its first president. Its purpose was not just to preserve but to revive the Irish language. Conradh na Gaeilge did a huge amount for the Irish language. They had branches all over the country and organised Irish language classes for the public. They also organised irish dancing classes and traditional music classes. Conradh na Gaeilge really emphasized the importance of Irish culture. The organization encouraged Irish people to learn their language.
