There's this gaming channel I like, and the guy always has some crazy or funny things to say, but often at the end of the episodes he'll say real sweet things, but sometimes he goes all out to make you feel loved and like you have a purpose on earth. It's so wholesome and sweet and just random that a gaming channel would do that. But it's the little things that can make someone feel good and loved and important. I lived and worked in South Korea for years. An AMAZING country with stunning countryside, delectable food, and vibrant cities that somehow manage to incorporate natural beauty into their design. Unfortunately, while Korea's healthcare system is second to none, mental health still carries a major stigma (though this is thankfully changing). Many parents are reluctant to acknowledge their children's struggles for fear it may reflect negatively on their parenting. As a result, children tend not to get the care they need. I wonder if this contributed to Jeong Sang-Jin slipping through the cracks.

@AllLifeIsTravesty
Жыл бұрын
Oh my God, it was a little surreal hearing him comment on _A Bittersweet Life._ That is an incredible film and has the exact _opposite_ theme as Sang-jin's motivation. The entire film is about the ugliness, emptiness, isolation, and ultimate pointlessness of that kind of vengeance and violence fueled existence, and yet he saw that and went, _"Yeah, that's what I wanna be"?_ I can only theorize (not being a mental health professional or knowing the man) that he already felt so alone and hollow that he related to the main character on that level and saw the violence the character committed as some kind of relief, no matter how fleeting and harmful it ended up being to them. Sort of how when some s*icide victims become euphoric when they decide to end it, because the idea of finally being "free" is so soothing to them in that moment, because they're so lost in their pain they can't imagine any healing or hope in the future and can't think of how it will hurt those around them. But yeah, media is often blamed for unwell peoples' actions despite the fact that the person's disturbed state inherently means they aren't seeing things clearly or correctly, therefore the product is not to blame since they can and do interpret and twist anything no matter how harmless into a manifestation of their own issues.

It doesn't matter if they are rich or poor, this was a horrible tragedy. I get it. Rich people can be insufferable for their snobbery, greed, and ego because they have the cash but not all wealthy people are like this and, as Count Dankula puts it, if you have an opinion, spread your message but if you use violence, it doesn't help your cause, it destroys it. Another great video as always. I am here for whatever type of video you wish to make. As I’ve grown accustomed to overseas stories, it’s nice to have a break every so often and throw in a happier or less depressing story every now and then. As I’m sure mentally you need a break as well from all the research and so on. No matter what direction you choose, I will always be here to support your efforts.

This channel is quickly becoming a favorite of mine! Started to binge watch a little last night and going to do the same tonight! The global cases help the repetition you see with this genre on KZitem. These are cases I have never heard about. Thank you Adrian! You have a beautiful cat too!

Hi Adrian, can you also cover the on going case here in Hong Kong of a Chinese socialite Abby Choi? She's been found dismembered by her ex-husband and his family early this week. It is gruesome and the police are still looking for her body parts. Thank you, hope you will notice my comment.

such a disturbing case.. as always a great in depth dive into a case I've not heard of. Hands down one of my favorite things about your channel. Not only do you do such a great job covering it but the fact that you pick lesser known cases from different countries than most do makes it even more fascinating to listen to. Love the guest appearance at the end..

Hi Adrian, this story was so good! Every time I watch one of your stories, I learn something new, about that country or state, it's beliefs & culture, and most of all the people who live in this area before you get to the story. I love that your branching out and trying new things & it works every time!! You still put the same love & care into each story you do, you make sure that the victim/victims stories are told with respect, & that is what has me coming back each time to watch the next story you have for us!! Keep up the great work, you are meant to do this! I raise my cup of coffee to you sir!! ☕🤗

I've binge watched many of your videos for the past two weeks. What I love about your channel is that you don't glorify violence, not focusing too too much on the gory details about murder. Unlike some true crime vids that reveal insane, twisted details about how the victims were harmed. That's why I find your content appealing but not scary, some of those gory ones I watched from other channels have scarred me. Thank you for paying respect and introducing the landscape and culture of each location, and of course thank you for respecting the victims.

Nero!! My favorite empty-headed true crime feline.😂 Thank you for covering this case. I fully support international cases. Case Suggestion: Skye Budnick. A young woman from CT, USA who secretly bought a one-way ticket to Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan for April 2008 & then seemingly vanished. I'm only 2 years younger than her, also from CT, & was also in Sapporo in April 2008, so I feel deeply connected to her case & it really needs more exposure. Her sister has released a podcast called "Surviving Skye" which is a great place to start. Thank you.

I always thought of suggesting his case to you. :-) Looking forward to your next video (and seeing more of Nero, too)!

The truth is the homeless problem is solved in South Korea by dumping people in shanty towns like Guryong Village, where people live in uninsulated shacks and make shift buildings created from shipping containers. So they are not technically considered homeless. Many young people dump their elderly parents here because the cost of living is too high. The Korean government is great at sweeping these issues under the rug, and pretending it has solved problems. Your impression of Seoul is really too optimistic. Housing has become unaffordable for the average person.

Thanks Adrian and Nemo. Very sad and strange story. Sometimes I wonder if controlling the flaunting of certain things might help people focus on themselves. Or a damn self help book. I know, way too flippant for the gravity of the situation. But it's one of the big things that cause people to lose it. And has been forever. Like bullying can cause a person to commit suicide...or shoot up a school. They rarely just go after their nemesis, or themselves. Sad as it is when a person loses it , it of course triples when a spree of some kind takes place. RIP to the victims and their families, and I hope the survivors recovered🙏💔🕊️

I lived in Gangnam when this happened. Rage against the wealthy in this case is a bit of a red herring to be honest. Borderline personality disorder in males tends to manifest in very violent crimes and this is something that really needs to be looked at.

Those with BPD tend to turn their anger, frustration and hate inward rather than against others. All people with mental illness are not killers, not all killers have mental illness. I tend to think that schizophrenia, psychopathy and addiction would have higher instances of outward violence and delusion.
@lobstersonskateboards3988

@@cdes1776 As someone who has BPD, it's somewhat true- self destruction is very common, but it's not to say that those with BPD don't have violent tendencies due to impulsive behavior. Especially when it becomes unchecked after a very long period of time, some people can't manage to find a way to regulate their emotions and they end up taking it out on others in a very sad way. There's also the fact that Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder (which is what I suspect the man also had, vulnerable narcissism specifically) end up combining frequently, usually as a comorbidity of the other, which can provoke more violent behavior depending on the symptoms and how they manage themselves.
