Regarding power and Elektron, I am currently powering a Digitone, Digitakt and Octatrack MK II with a Satechi USB C PD Charger 4 port hub and connecting each box with a Blind Spot Power Pipe Version 2-12 Volt Trigger Cable. Got everything from Amazon and they run nicely, the USB-C PD hub doesn't get hot either. It can power a fourth Elektron too. Something worth looking into for anyone looking for a manageable power solution for multiple Elektron boxes without using all the original power bricks.

I'm interested in your audio cables, I can see clearly the right-angle orange/yellow cables. I'm thinking of getting some right-angle 1/4" cables, but I can imagine that they might fight each other for space on the back of the Octatrack (Inputs A/B, Outputs Main/Cue, MIDI). Are you able to speak to the cabling on the back of your devices? I'm looking to maximise the space behind my equipment.

It is a tight fit and they do fight for space for sure

Your power supply cooling issues can be easily & inexpensively solved by self adhesive aluminum heat sink and zip tying a Silverstone “Air Penetrator” series PC fan directly on top of the heat sink. The fan draws air from the heat sink and out it’s own protective “grill”. PC fans are normally 12VDC. But it is standard practice to run 5-12VDC to change fan speed. This fan is powered by the extra output of the power supply and fan speed is controlled by the power supply’s voltage dip switch. Make a stand-off for your MIDI control board to give the fan one inch of exhaust clearance from parts from Home Depot. Problem solved from a 20yr electronics tech.

I've rewatched this a lot. It's definitely the approach I'll probably somewhat mimic. One thing I must ask, using OT as performance mixer removes it's other abilities for music production or as to act as a great sample launcher (say for long dialogue or monologue with FX to add that spooky flare, something I lean on heavily)...are you using that BlackBox to run those kinds of samples instead?

Glad you like it. Yes. That’s exactly how I’m using it and the black box. Thanks for watching!

Is there another device that can control E gear in a simplified (USB midi) way like how you described the XL and the 1010? Or do you think the only way to run E gear is how you have previously described (midi USB box etc).

Controllers that have DIN midi out can control Elektron gear directly. Some examples are the Arturia Keystep and the Faderfox controllers like the PC12. I am considering mapping my PC12 to the 12 tracks of the SYntakt, but not sure I want to add another controller to the setup.

@@SURCOlive Interesting, I'd love to have that fine control over the devices I have. Faderfox is a bit expensive but what is does seems very practical for live use.

Appreciate your knowledge sharing sir - always something to learn from other artists. I'm currently using an 0-Coast & Strega sequenced by a Squid + a Machine MK3 for triggering snapshots etc. Everything is clocked by Logic with Maschine2 running as a multi-channel plugin. I've also got 2 SSL UF8s' for mixing and vst/eq tweaking. I did have several Elecktron units about 2 years ago but struggled with the menu diving a bit. (ran them through a Xone mixer - bit like Dave Mach). Your workflow vlogs are really interesting - keep them coming
