Gorgeous campsite with the ferns! I bought a rotomolded cooler this year, yeah it was pricey but I used one bag of ice for 5 days. The Coleman’s I need to re-up the ice daily. I’d never go back.

Nice call on that cooler. And yes, this spot was beautiful. In Olympic National Park.

Wonderful video with lots of great tips! One to add- If you don’t have an insulated air mattress/pad, I’ve had good luck just putting a wool blanket over it. Loudly second the purchase of local firewood. And one of the most wonderful winter camping moments I had last year was finding my thick wool socks in the bottom of my sleeping bag in the middle of the night. 😂 So, thick wool socks.

great little video, thank you. I also think an essential is how you have your "bathroom" set up. it's important to be responsible with out "waste" how does your family responsibility take care of the if you're not in a campground where there may be a toilet.

NGL probably #1 on my list for bad weather state park camping is cold beer. Heat, humidity, heavy bug pressure, even crumby campsite neighbors all bother me a lot less.

Just a heads up for ya, as I see this quite often across various youtube videos. Using a non stick pan after is has been scratched (to bare metal), and definitely scraped up like yours is very bad for your health. Just a small scratch releases TONS of nasty chemicals. You can research the subject if you like. I'd personally recommend carbon steel for camping (very similar to cast iron but not as heavy.) Anything other than teflon/non stick stuff.
@theoutdoorempire

Good advice. We use carbon steel at home now.

To start camping, you don't need any gear. Some campsite have small cottages with beds, sheets, utensils and everything. You just need to get there. If you want to camp in a tent, you need a tent obviously and a blanket or a sleeping bag. It's up to you how you want to camp and how much you want to buy, but you definitely don't need to buy everything before you even start and definitely don't have to spend a fortune. Start light, with campsite, weather, distance and spending. Don't listen to people saying this is camping, that is not camping... if you're setting up camp outside your house, you're camping!

First aid should be 1st
@odys3803
Ай бұрын
@@adidas4275 First aid is so 1st that I don't even think about it. In my country first aid kit is mandatory car equipment, and every work environment (including shops and stores) are required by law to have a large first aid kit with up to date medical supplies. I carry a boo-boo kit so I don't have to open car med kit for minor scratches and what not.

How do you camp without a Dyneema tent? Sure, they are expensive and sound like someone is shaking a plastic bag full of seashells if it rains, but..... Dyneeeeema.
