As is the tradition at the New York Auto Show, Genesis presented its vision of the future at the luxury showroom Genesis House. The Neol concept is a large and rich SUV with a smooth body and a collapsed interior. We believe this concept introduces the upcoming electric SUV, which is expected to be called the GV90 in the coming years. The Neolun sports a roof rack that lifts when needed, but sits flush with the roof and hides away. The Genesis' distinctive twin-line headlights and taillights are also seamlessly integrated into the bodywork, with the headlights forming a triangular grille shape, as previously seen on the sporty X Concepts. Neolun is painted in a mixture of Midnight Black and Majestic Blue - a deep, glossy color. In typical concept-car style, Neolun ditches the B-pillars in favor of wagon doors. It should be noted that Genesis says that the development of these doors has "reached the level where it is now possible to apply them to production cars". Electric side steps automatically lower when the doors are opened to facilitate entry and exit. The GV90 could use the same 99.8 kWh battery pack as the EV9, which would give the luxury SUV a range of around 300 miles per charge. Genesis may offer a larger battery option with a slightly longer range, but we won't know much more until closer to the SUV's on-sale date. The cabin is spacious, with just two rows and king-sized captain's chairs for the second row. There is a unique heating system with heating films on the instrument panel, door panels, floor, seat backs and console sides. It's designed to spread heat throughout the car instead of blowing it directly through the dash vents. The sound system is also said to be "progressive", with tweeters, mid-range speakers, woofers and subwoofers positioned to create an "immersive audio experience". While Neol's concept car was shown with only two rows of seats and swiveling front seats, we suspect Genesis will build the production GV90 with a more traditional three-row layout with fixed front seats. The seats in the front row can be rotated, and a large screen descends from the roof for rear passengers. The salon is upholstered in Royal Indigo cashmere and Purple Silk leather, paired with real wood flooring. The cabin will likely be luxurious, but we're guessing the Neolu's wood flooring will be replaced with plush carpeting, and the radiant heating system will be ditched in favor of forced-air climate control. One thing we hope will make the leap from concept to reality is the dramatic dark blue and purple interior color scheme.
