Amazing video! I'm from Hong Kong, and it blew my mind to see a white guy analyze Chinese characters so deeply. I never thought about looking at Chinese characters that way.

Mind blowing!! I used to learn Chinese when I was in มัธยม. The teacher kept telling me that my handwriting didn't look good but he never ever told me why it was bad nor how to fix it. Well, couldn't blame him though. I wouldn't be able to tell how to fundamentally write a beautiful Thai script neither. But it was so frustrating back then. 😂

That's why I love this book. It analysed every part of writing...what I presented here was just part of it...but one of the most 'mysterious' parts imho

@@StuartJayRaj One question though. At first, you showed the first frame of character. It would be very convincing if there's just only single one beautiful shape kinda like the one and only golden ratio formula. But then you showed several frames that have different shapes, does that mean there's infinite possible shape that looks beautiful? Or the main idea is that certain character have certain frame and, to write a beautiful character, we need to write according to its frame?

Extremely cool video. I love applying a more analytical “scientific” approach to these things which, people will tell you, are “an art” or based on a “feel” or “you just need to practice”. Not true. Like pronunciation you can really analyse this stuff and break it down

Even art is not based on feeling. Painting or drawing well is a precise science.
Forgive me, if you’ve already made a video about this. But I would love a video about speaking smoothly with tones in mind. After being surrounded by many native speakers of Vietnamese, I was able to mimic the way they go from all the way low to all the way high Mid to low tone etc. Would love to see your take. Thanks!
