So much fascinating information here! Love the drive from Santa Cruz to San Francisco and this makes it even more interesting.

It's an awesome drive, and, yes, knowing more about the geological history makes it even more awesome.

@@RandomRabbit007 Yeah, my views are Westernized. maybe I pronounce it wrong. The BBC News recently changed their pronunciation of Ukraine's Kiev (Key-ev) to "Keev" as the Russians seemingly call it that. But they didn't change their pronunciation of Paris to "Paree" as it should be.

@@MonaichFother All good man, it happens all the time with many words. Ask someone from the UK or Australia to pronounce 'Aluminum' and you'll get a good kick out of it if you're American.

I live in Zayante- mostly sand & sandstone around here. We have a railroad tunnel, but no caves that I’m aware of! Only caves I know of in this region are associated with limestone. And limestone only appears on Ben Lomond mountain. No limestone in Zayante/Lompico at all. No granite either. We do have a great aquifer!

The east side of the San Andreas Fault is NOT moving South East! Stop the misinformation.
