does anyone else feel like the wine glass that is knocked over is important. All of the wine glasses have white wine it in apart from one which has red wine in it and the red wine glass is knocked over. I think this is important because the red wine could be something like blood and the white wine could represent the innocence of the guests (and the red wine glass doesn't get knocked over until Banquo's ghost nears it)

Jodu - Shakespeare wrote in ghosts to prove to the audience that Macbeth had yielded to evil. Very simple world view of those times: if you do bad things you will face evil consequences. If the king is evil, the world falls apart.

The important thing is the text. The costumes are whatever the director wants. Shakespeare wrote this 400 years later. Actors in his time would have been wearing the 'wrong' costumes too.

connor3067 People have made interpretations similar to that which you can check if you want. But the language of Shakespeare is the whole point of what makes his plays so unique in the first place. It's a little like how comic book films are often highly regarded if they remain faithful to source material. People enjoy watching interpretations of Shakespeare like this, to see how well the language itself can work within a new context or style. Change or modernise the language itself, and it's no longer a Shakespeare play/film, more like a simplified adaptation which quite often isn't nearly as interesting to watch or listen to.
