This film was a collaboration between Willis O'Brien and artist, filmmaker and engineer Herbert M. Dawley. Although it's production sadly ended in a feud between the two men resulting in this being their only collaborative effort, it did end up being a moderately successful film upon release. It was this film that led producer Watterson Rothacker to hire O'Brien to create the dinosaur sequences for Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. After several years in developement, as well as a legal dispute with Dawley that was eventually settled out of court, Rothacker secured a deal with First National Pictures and The Lost World was eventually released in the summer of 1925, the audiences marveling at O'Brien's special effects.
