Glourious Revolution - GCSE History Revision
In 1685 Charles II died without a legimitate male heir. This left Charles' Catholic brother James, as the heir to the throne. In 1688 the Dutch Protestant William of Orange deposed James II and became King of England. This is known as the Glourious Revolution. In 1689 Parliament forced William to sign the Bill of Rights, which gave Parliament more power over the monarchy.
