Their best line up and greatest period. Brilliant band that brought Robert and Grant’s songs to full beautiful life. Also miss Rock Arena and before that Rock Around the World.

The Go-Betweens music just enkokes so much feeling to the listener. My spirits soar when i hear them play. Brilliant band. In fact one of the best bands in the history of rock. So much melancholy. lyrical genius by both song writers

Rock Arena was a great show. Susanne Dowling introduced Australian country kids like me to so much incredible music! Including the magnificent Go-Betweens! Lindy Morrison…one of Australia’s greatest drummers too!

These guys embodied what it means to be completely committed to your Art. They were the ultimate "starving musicians". Never made a penny and lived in less than ideal situations. A definition of the perfect bohemian artists.

Cattle and Cane, how that song fell through the gaps of popularity I just don't understand. A haunting Oz song.

I saw them the year before at the Gladstone Tavern in Christchurch, New Zealand when I was a university student. A memorable night out at quite a small venue - it was like the ultimate fans' experience with no real separation between the band and audience (not even a stage really) and like having them play in your living room. Went with my friends and flat mates and everyone was up and dancing. We chatted with the band between numbers and they took requests at the end and played whatever you wanted. Probably only about 60 in the audience. They deserved to become more well-known - it's a mystery to me why they didn't on the back of brilliant albums like "Before Hollywood" (one of my top ten albums of all time) and "Spring Hill Fair." R.I.P. Grant - we miss you...

kiwicom65 I went to them two nights in a row in Akl 1988, the Esplanade in Devonport and then the Powerstation in the city, and they were everything I thought they'd be. They featured 16 lover's Lane, and I remember the women on fiddle and oboe was foxy. The band were great too.

A great place to see a band especially one as good as the Go-Betweens. I'm from Chch and moved to Sydney at the same time the GBs relocated there from the UK. I was a fan already but being able to walk down Oxford St and see them at the RSL or have them pop up at Selinas opening for the Bad Seeds and the Jesus & Mark Chain. A huge part of my Australian experience. Sad we no longer Grant to write some beautiful tunes.

Excellent audio of a Wellington, New Zealand full Go-Betweens gig from 1985. Recorded from the sound desk, so very good quality. 17 tracks: The Go-Betweens - 1985 Wellington

Is Lindy directly under a fan or air conditioning vent? I'm surprised she can see for her hair swirling around like that. :(
