Being Australian I know nothing about cricklewood , but I grew up watching the goodies and even 40 years later , they outshine anyone with their almost insane brand of humour , how they come up with their crazy themes for each show for over a decade I will never know ,comedy at its absolute best . The British have always been the kings of comedy

I remember the first time I traveled to London (the late 80's) and saw a bus that was headed to Cricklewood. Being a huge Goodies fan, I jumped aboard and went and had a pint at the Cricklewood Tavern and reminisced about the Goodies. So glad that later in life I had the privilege of meeting all three of the Goodies. I have shed a few tears today at the News of Tim's passing. The Goodies meant so much to me growing up, and is still my favourite English comedy show. RIP Tim Brooke Taylor... Thankyou for the laughter and the memories.

Rest in Peace dear Tim Brooke-Taylor, one of the memorable characters of my childhood in Australia. And then years later I lived in Kilburn - just down the road from glorious Cricklewood. xo

I don't know what generation you grew up in (probably my parents) but when I was growing up and I started watching the goodies in about 2007 at age 2! I love the show and it is so said to here about Tim's passing. My parents saw Tim and Graeme (I think in Melbourne) live and said it they came back they would take me to their show

Rest in humor Tim thanks I cannot tell you how appreciative I am for yourself and Bill and Tim and all the others now I think of it that made the Goodies. It has given me a lifetime of silliness and humour to enjoy and appreciate.

The little quote of 'the Irish Washerwoman' jig towards the fade also reminded me that Status Quo also used that in their version of The Doors' Roadhouse Blues on Quo Live.

👍Sorry i havnt a clue what this songs about but I do like it . Never heard this song before Crickle wood I'm proud to be a Goodie fan . There tv shows where very funny too . This song sounds like it came straight out of the sixties hippie generation movement if you go to sanfransisco be sure to wear flowers in youre hair. sixties MUSIC never sounded so good this reminds me of my favourite decade the sixties .It's actually a good song just what I need afther a bad dream I only once saw the real Bill Oddi trying to cross the road i was to shy to ask for his autograph I also saw Kenneth Williams he was walking towards me and pass me by quite serious look on his face again I was to shy to ask him did his autograph. That reminds me of the time when I was with my mum and we saw George Melly sitting outside some airport in England reading .My mother eventually got his autograph.I thought he might be annoyed but he was happy to oblige us with his autograph happy days.

This compilation makes me wonder if Madness took inspiration for their early videos from The Goodies. This feels quite similar, especially to House of Fun.

I used to live in Cricklewood, just off the Edgeware road. I had the good fortune of living in a little oasis between some old railway cottages, the houses of which formed a sound barrier against the noise of the highstreet. Things must have changed since the Goodies song in the seventies, as I would say that it is certainly not the cast that "Nothing ever happens there". :)

Loved this, Ronan! You did a spectacular job with the visuals; this is an excellent music video! I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with this group, but they have that wonderful British pop sound that floated from my older sister's bedroom while I was young. It brought back a very happy feeling for me.Thanks again!

fam left u.k. for arizona in 1980, managed to catch every episode? on youtube c. 2008 coinciding with a nice weed harvest. weeded, oh goody that's nice. part of me stopped living when we got to arizona, the part of me that didn't want gunfights and cactus. it is sad to see how much of america britain absorbed in the past decades, so it's always lovely to be reminded that some people are still aware of quality. that it existed somewhere, once.

Oh, lovely! Thank you for making this video. Lots of street scenes and dancing, and it's nice to see the 'we are like the Monkees' clip - which was not from a programme but just used in the opening credits - again. [I always wondered why they were running after the dog, incidentally!] That trandem business never gets old - did you see Adam Hills recreate it on his show? You probably know already, but this song is based on an earlier one called 'Denmark Street' that Bill wrote for ISIRTA. I actually prefer this version because the different voices add to the mix, and the production is so good on the whole album.

What's the episode where they're dancing in the old-fashioned bathing costumes? I don't remember seeing it in the repeats on That's TV. It reminded me of some archive footage on Classic Albums with Queen's Seaside Rendezvous playing over it the week A Night At The Opera was discussed.

Funny for exactly 1 minute and 59 seconds, then it falls right off a cliff, proving once again that the natural life of a joke cannot be extended (no matter what). I recommend instead "the Cricklewood Greats" in "The Alan Coren Omnibus" (1996).
