Poet Aesop.
In his fable 'The Goose with the Golden Eggs', a farmer and his wife have a goose that lays a golden egg every day. They are of course very happy with this, but one day they become too impatient - one egg a day is no longer enough for them. The farmer then decides to slaughter the goose in the hope of finding more golden eggs in the body so that he can remove them in one go. However, the goose turned out to be no different from other geese on the inside. So because the farmer was not satisfied with what he had, he lost his main source of income.
