Greenhouse poly lasts at the most 4years. You can use it for other things but you would be way better off ordering new poly for your rebuilt hoop house. Research online the best place to get it. 6 ml is the best thickness. (We have been professional greenhouse growers for 37 years) that was such a great blessing that you found!!!😊

Morgan at Gold Shaw Farm in VT has been using a similar green house as a winter home for chickens, ducks and geese, and the birds seem to love it. He'll transition the birds outside when the weather changes and plant veggies for his family and some of the animals. The structure is next to their barn, not too far from the house. You can check him out o here on YT. Other farmers I follow use the greenhouses for starting plants during the winter and growing during the summer. Best wishes -- what a great find for you.

The black plastic is for light deprivation. You can trigger flowering to start early so longer finishers have the time to finish before the weather turns. I have never actually used one so I don't know all the details, but everyone uses them where I live.

Great find. Heck you could probably make a shelter big enough for your other animals also. You should see if you could salvage a bunch of the weed barrier fabric from the floor of the greenhouse. Then put it down at your place to keep weeds down when you put it back together. Quality heavy duty weed barrier isn't cheap, and you might as well take it. I wonder if Brandon and Steph would be interested in coming there and getting one of those for their place?

My Goodness! The world is now your oyster ! With those sectional construction half hoops you can build almost anything, any size, you can double up the hoops to strengthen if you want, cut the plastic to any length - an absolute treasure trove - then all the lights, the fans, the weed fabric, the potting soil - I would take as many pieces of hoop, the roller gadgets, the plastic as you can comfortably store, and you have the base materials for every conceivable structure you might want to have on your property, e it chicken runs, a greenhouse, a shop, a barn, a place to store the rest of the hoops... I'm so itching to get there and help, and dream up new things to use at home - or even offer to others that are near enough to make use of anything - it must be thousands of $$$ just waiting for someone creative to repurpose all those goodies

Isn’t it so true, one man’s garbage is another man’s gold period. You’re using the right idea to start your farming venture. With 100 foot quad it you could actually segment it into four sections and have a different section went safe for gardening, one for a workshop, one for a small appliance garage, holding the bikes, lawnmowers, etc. things like that and then the other one for something else

I believe the double skin lining of the grow shed was possibly by having clear outer sheet as disguise as normal greenhouse, but the dark inner black layer to hide grown lighting 24/7 active, and hide the fact from external view. Thus the secret illegal crop activity, could operate hidden, only abnormal power usage could reveal the grow lamp use. I had a discovery from my backyard years ago. I do astrophotography, so do long exposure photos in dark night sky. On some photos I had light leaking from under roof tiles of a double story home , second place from my backyard. It appeared to me that some growing of things were taking place in the attic of that home. Suspect was Marijuana as some odour was in the air while they had regular barbeque parties in their front yard and driveway in front of their garage. Odour suggestive of smoking of such marijuana. That was a Chinese family, that ran a Eggs and frozen chicken business from their double garage. Their home got raided suddenly one time, and detected was that some egg cartons were being sold with small packs of hard drugs of several varieties, and some chickens had plastic bags of marijuana stuffed inside. The raid however was created by their kids getting arrested with a quantity of drugs in possession, beyond mere personal needs. I was simply too afraid to offer my photos to police, as location of the photos would be evident if used in causing arrests and ensuing court case. With Chinese involved there was TOO HIGH RISK of danger from Chinese Drug Gang revenge if found to have provided police cause to arrest and bust the drug business. Too high risk to our family and home, guess I was too cowardly to be involved. Yet I was glad when they were arrested, without my involvement. Apparently some good jail time resulted. Another family now reside there, but identical barbeques still occur regularly. Though police do visit almost monthly, no more eggs or chicken business now though.

Dude, you could start your own hatchery! A temporary shop would probably be more practical though. You could keep a 20' part for a greenhouse for seed starting and grow outs for the garden.
