Pure magic, I love it, thank you so much Laurie. Every show these days has no heart, no substance… I’m only glad to have grown up in the early 70’s

If Graham Kennedy had an American accent, he would have left Johnny Carson for dead. I was 9 when this aired. Anyway I remember it because my Mum loved GK. When Australia was Australia. I always thought the Song Rock n Roll Gave me the Best Years came out much later. What a great song!

This was a good show. Graham's discussion on Australian content is a good point. Today, there isn't much Australian content. Mostly the news and current affairs shows. I couldn't help but notice the similarities between Graham's Wheel and Don's Wheel!

This is remarkable footage, as the entire opening monologue was edited out by Nine before it went to air, leading to Gra quitting in protest. You have a remarkable collection Laurie!

Hi Laurie, This is amazing. I'm on this show, performing and someone sent me the link to my clip (Susie Coles). Do you have any more variety shows from this era. I appeared on Don Lane, Ernie Sigley, Bob Maumill, The Penthouse Club - all between the years of 1971 to 1980. This is such a good quality copy. Fantastic that you put these up there.

Thanks Susie! I do have around 32 episodes of The Don Lane Show on my channel but only between 1980-1983. Other tonight show material is just so difficult to source. I'll have to re-watch your performance, especially now that we've communicated.

Yes, in Channel Nine's archive vault. I do have some faith in Seven and little to no faith in Ten having their content stored safely in archives. I did hear that when Bert Newton left the Nine Network, a parting gift given to him was the entire catalogue of The Don Lane Show.

I read and heard countless stories about the infamous crow call but have never seen the footage. It's quite possible it was wiped. Would love to hear from others though. In an upcoming Don Lane show episode, Graham talks in length about this incident with Don.

Nine keep trotting out an earlier one, and passing it off as the actual one - it's not. For starters, it's in black-and-white, where the actual crow-call was done on Kennedy's first colour episode. If it exists, it'd be in colour. The one Nine show was done on the 1973 set, not the 1975 set, etc.
