Like I'm not as up in arms as some other fans are about the loss of the award- realistically the chair was all middle aged white men (apprently), I knew they would have no idea who they even were lol. But there was a bit lot of disrespect during the show, holding their performance back so much that BTS themselves actually apologised to their fans for being so late in the show and that they didn't know they'd be shown so late, and it was so blatant the disrespect when you watched the show in real time.

This is especially true for artists who are POC or who’s fan base is largely made up of teen/young girls, but when we say our favourite artists have been snubbed it’s not because we are “salty” it’s because the Grammy’s themselves are shit but still are clinging to this reputation of importance and dangling that over artists and fans heads.

They truly ruin great opportunities for amazing artists around the world that deserve an award. *Edit*: I’m sorry how this comes across for some locals, we are just genuinely upset for BTS and armies being used to gain more attention. It’s not that Dynamite was the greatest song in the world, and it deserved to win, it was the false sense of us and the boys thinking they had a high chance of winning. I kind of expected them to not win because hey, it's the Grammys, but I'm so tired of them being constantly used for clout, views and clicks. The grammys are highly racist and xenophobic. They did BTS and The Weeknd so dirty. The Weeknd would have swept all categories main or pop had he been nominated but they needed majority of white winners so they snubbed him completely. And BTS was done so dirty too. Not only have they woken up at like 1 am in Korea, recreated the set, sat there prepared just for like one second of screentime but they didn't even show them. Not to mention they shoved the only pop category with an international act in the pre show. They say they nominate the best song but that's not true they nominate songs that are successful ( and english) and of course if the label pays for the nomination . Same with the winning. I guarantee if Dynamite was by a white artist it would have won since in the past the biggest song always won the category. They also cut their performance short , couldn't even give them more than exactly 3 minutes and put their performance among the last with roty nominees ( where they couldn't nominate dynamite ..) to string the fans along to watch while they said bts coming up for like one hour and a half to keep.people watching. Especially what they did with BTS was crazy. They marketed the Grammys with BTS but they were barely seen there. Also BTS has the best selling album of 2020 globally (IFPI) yet they were only nominated with the one and only English song they have and their song had more views and votes than Rain on Me, which is a good song, but logically BTS should have won because of those factors, shouldn’t they? But then again, they’re not the only artists to be treated unfairly... Also as a non-American the fact that they did not win is not why I am upset in the first hand but more because of the marketing which I think was a bit too much compared to how much they actually gave BTS sceen time. Grammys Twitter was full of BTS and during the show they were a couple of mentionings like that too. I have never before been interested in the Grammys but wanted to watch because of them, had to wake up in the middle of the night for that and was dissapointed when they made it seem like BTS would be all over the show but in reality it was like 3 minutes and right at the end and I know for sure that I am not the only foreigner like that, who stayed up just to see them yet didn’t get what they thought they would. I think the Grammys should have thought a little more how they marketed it.
@KookiesNolly

I agree that Dynamite deserved an award as it's a great pop song, but the numbers aren't a deciding factor here. Even a quick look on their wikipedia page would tell you that the Grammys WERE SUPPOSED to reward artistic merit REGARDLESS of commercial success, so using the numbers as a justification doesn't really work. The Recording Academy's decisions are all very subjective and that has always been the point. You can disagree with the method but if all you want is for awards to be given on the bases of commercial succes then you should watch the BBMAs, not the Grammys. Now it is true that the grammys often feel like a popularity contest but at the end of the day, since numbers aren't apart of the official rules, they always have some deniability about that, so if you want to criticize their ruling find something else. Criticize the artistic merits of the song, since that's what they are SUPPOSED to judge. That's why this award show matters in the industry IN THEORY and why BTS themselves wanted one so much. BTS know they sell well, and they frankly don't care that much about money and numbers, they want to be recognize by their peers as artists. Unfortunately, the Recording Academy is too corrupt to do its job. That's why the award is meaningless nowadays, not because they don't care about streams and sells, but because they don't even care about art either.
@spiritualsnail1584

I don't even like Dynamite that much but come on. It's obvious that the Grammys always award the most mainstream songs. But then BTS becomes the most mainstream, and they panic cause oh shit they're korean. BTS is deadass what made people watch their boring ass show and I can't believe the disrespect. I wish they'd pull a Weeknd move, or have the sassy Bong Joon Ho "I make Oscars awards kiss lol" attitude instead of hanging their heads low and waiting for such a dumb ceremony to validate them.

Even though I (a member of Army) find Dynamite to be a pretty generic happy song (that I still absolutely vibe to & love) and believe that one of BTS’ other songs was more deserving of a Grammy (like ON, Black Swan, Blue & Grey) I still fully believe that the Grammy’s took advantage of BTS. They used them for hype & clout, giving the group/duo award to not a group or a true duo but a collaboration, and had them perform last so that people would have to watch until the end to see them. And on top of that, members of BTS have said that they need to “work harder next time” despite dedicating so much of their day-to-day life rehearsing, filming, writing, recording, working endlessly...it doesn’t sit right with me that they’ve been made to feel like they didn’t work hard enough. @@stantalent9178 they’ve been popular before the Grammy’s lmaoo and besides, they’re one of the reasons the Grammy’s had as many views as it did this year.

Tbh that fact that blood related by Kurtis Conner wasn’t on the country list makes me lose even more faith in the Grammys

It would be so satisfying to see just all of the artists just leave the Grammys. Just be like “Hey we’re done with this bs” and flush the trophies down the toilet.

Just the fact that Chloe X Halle didn't win their nomination... that's enough, scammys as some call it.

Doja Cat was forced to sing Say So and sang it different genres, proving that she was very versatile but still DIDNT get at least a Grammy for it I-

The fact that Chloe and Halle didn’t win any awards genuinely upsets me to my core. They produced one of the most amazing, versatile and powerful albums we’ve heard this year. Their live performances were iconic and so well though out. They really put in the work this year and not a single fuck was given by the Grammys 💀
