Saturday May 18th, 2024 brings us to Meredith, New Hampshire for the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts charter on the Granite State Scenic Railroad. Formerly known as The Hobo and Lake Winnipesaukee Railroad, the company was recently acquired by The Patriot Rail Company and renamed to the GSSR. For this trip, the MBRRE had chartered the GSSR on a special excursion, covering trackage of the former Boston and Maine New Hampshire Division. We follow the train time timetable North, heading from Meredith to Lincoln. We catch the train at many scenic locations, including multiple truss bridges and former stations. Powering the trip is SW1000 105 on the head end, and SW1001 1590 on the rear. The 105 is normally in charge of the daily trains out of Lincoln, and since the company likes running the engines "glass out," we got a special treat of seeing the 105 leading "long hood forward" as the train heads North to Lincoln. Lets follow this special train along the scenic Boston and Maine. Enjoy!
