I remember when I was a child, back when cartoons only came on tv on Saturday mornings, there was a commercial for Oscar Mayer bologna. It was the cutest little fella sitting on a dock fishing. He was eating a sandwich. He sang a tune that I can remember, word for word, to this day. Part of it spelled out Oscar, Mayer and bologna. I think those were some of the very first words I learned to spell...lol.

Schaaf, Adam The Adam Schaaf Piano Company was established in Chicago in 1873, making them one of the pioneering firms of the midwestern United States. Adam Schaaf was known for building higher grade, good quality pianos and the firm enjoyed a stellar reputation. By the turn-of-the-century the company was controlled by sons Harry Schaaf and Fred Schaaf. The firm was so successful that in the 1920’s a new state-of-the-art factory was built at Fillmore Street, Chicago. The firm built an impressive line of upright pianos, player pianos and grand pianos. In addition to pianos under the “Adam Schaaf” brand name, the firm produced pianos under the “Clarion” and “Orpheus” brand names, each offered as an affordable alternative to the costlier Adam Schaaf brand while still offering good quality. Sadly, Adam Schaaf’s huge success did not carry them through the Great Depression, and the firm was closed sometime in the early 1930s.

Thank you. That certainly explains the size of the tomb. I should have researched it beforehand 😀

What a modest headstone. Looks a lot like the headstone for Paul Bryant.

I recently went to a cemetery to pay my respects to a famous person. Neil Hope was a Canadian actor who was on the Degrassi series. He played Wheels. His life story was very sad. He passed away in a boarding house in Hamilton, Ontario. I am a fan of the show and wanted to visit that cemetery for a long time. He is buried at Woodland Cemetery in Burlington. His grave is located near the office. I was happy that I went.

I grew up in the Los Angeles area, in the 1960s and clearly remember the Weiner Mobile coming to the Saftway store next to where we lived and we would run over there and get a free oscar mayer weiner whistle from them. Also a Beany and Cecil mobile would come with a big spinnner on the top of it and hand out Beany and Cecil hats to us kids. Those were such fun days!

I remember the Weiner mobile making a uturn in front of my house. He was on his way to make an appearance at a baseball tournament nearby. Me and my neighborhood friends did our best to get the driver to stop but he kept going. I had to of been 4 years old. Funny how some childhood memories stay with you.
