I sometimes wonder if Elle would make for a good Shakespearean actress? The way she delivers these lines with such heartfelt and raw emotion, made all the better with her impeccable English accent makes me think if she ever wants to try out English theater, she could kill it on stage.

"Live at someone else's whim?!" "God forbid, Empress." Mariel has the best dry humour here, standing there as her servant and property, listening to her complain about her situation.

C: I felt god had made me for a purpose. M: Why did he make you a woman then? C: Comedy, I guess? One of the greatest bits of dialogue ever written.

Mariel is brilliant here. Coolly “helpful” as she prepares for Catherine’s imminent suicide while giving her it’s singular purpose. Once she sees that she’s successfully started the wheel spinning, she blithely exits. Well done. 😁🥂

If the emporer dies Russia goes to the empress. That's the way this little former princess from Germany decided to go and so to become one of the greatest female rulers in the humans history.

imagine her being in the Su*cide Hotline nowadays. Caller: I am at a bridge and will jump! Her: Sure, is the bridge high enough? Make sure it's high enough or it'll hurt so badly and you might even survive. (Talks to someone) Vlad, go to the bridge, someone's about to jump. Hand him a noose, that'll be a sure fire. (Goes back to the caller) Vlad will be there soon...

@sofie De leon lemmie guess, Philippines, yeah?... i mean, i didn't want this comment to be political and such... And to be honest, your comment just came out of nowhere... give yourself a break, your life ain't about political beliefs because believe me, those people up there in your gov't ain't gonna die for you, so why would you?... use your power, your voice, and your right on the upcoming elections... i mean, I've heard Duterte's quite popular there, so you got your work cut out for you, but you die for your country, not for your leaders so stop saying that...

@sofie De leon you're 17 and you talk about dying?!!! are you mad?!!! you've seen nothing yet of life and here you are talking about mortality! Young lady, i am telling you, you maybe from a different generation, a generation which has the power and access to extensive information at the tip of their fingers, but you ain't seen nothing yet. I know you worry about your future. But YOU are the future! How can the future be when you are even thinking of testing your mortality? You are young, I know, but that's not an excuse to say stupid things. Your generation has more power than we ever had, I am a millennial, 29 of age, and working my ass out for the betterment of myself, which will correlate to the betterment of my family, my community, my country, and my world. And here you are, whining. You better pull yourself together, be better, use the strength that my generation and the generation before me provided you. Don't you ever dare speak again about dying, it's disgusting. You want change in your gov't? Then live. Because your country has no use of you if you're dead.
