1848 was the year in which the Hungarian peoples revolted against Vienna and wanted to secede and have a Hungarian independent state, while the Serbs, Croats and Romanians stayed loyal to Vienna and fought the Hungarians. Many Serbs in what is today Banat had died during the conflict and the memorial is dedicated to them. A town in Backa region is called Srbobran - literally the "defender of Serbdom", cause that's where the Serbs fought the Hungarians and won.

"Cow's baby meat"?! 😆😂 More appropriate cuisine term would be - baby beef. And that paprika and garlic Serbian salad you had - the one with green elongated cubanelle pepper, it is most delicious! Extremely gourmet in taste, and healthy, too. Original name is paprika belolucanka or zalucena paprika. It is traditionally made in Serbia, and can be prepared with red bell peppers, too.

16:23 You have no idea how rare it is to see Vrsac Hills from Belgrade. Under certain meteorogical circumtances you can even see the carpathian mountains (in the winter with snow on them). Pretty rare sightings.

Jablan, actually, (poplar tree, cottonwood) is a recurring motif in literature, for example, in poems of distinguished and much beloved Serbian writer, poet, journalist and diplomat Milos Crnjanski. Or in music pieces, too (Isidora Zebeljan, Zora D. contemporary opera).

a joj! how old is this young lady? that memorial plaque, in vršac, remembers the railstation workers that died in the "national liberation battle" (y народноослободилачкoj борби / u narodnooslobodilackoj borbi) - that means in the years between 1941-1945 i love this video!

5:50 I just love hearing Serbian language especially from villagers. I am not sure but are they speaking in an older accent? Out of all the Slavic languages Serbian is the most interesting and beautiful but I love all Slavic languages.

I used to live in one of the villages on the train route, named Banatski Karlovac. The train station there is literally the same as the one in Uljma. Copy pasted to the finest detail.

5:57 Wow what a nice old building! They should restore it!!! Where do they buy tickets? I guess they take buses now instead of trains 😥

Trains still run; preferable to busses. They’re restoring the rail to Timișoara. That’s exciting. And the new high speed train to Novi Sad from bg is about a half hour vs 1.5 hours drive

First I thought "What train to Vrsac"!? Then, you realize there is none! Everybody has a car these days and there are good highways! Passenger trains were running in the all days when it was just about only means of transportation. Now it is just for freight!
