I remember reading years ago that Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet, The Great Gatsby, Elvis), was in talks to direct Kubrick's Napoleon. I would have LOVED to see that. In one hand, I love Luhrmann's films, and in the other, it would had been glorious to see Kubrick lovers go crazy over such irreverence.

Yeah that would have annoyed people but really if a dream project of a certain filmmaker doesn't get made I'd rather someone completely different make rather than someone trying to do their best Kubrick impression

Marlon did actually play him in Désirée 1954. Great video boys, keep it going!

Kubrick cancelled the project because he saw Waterloo (1970) and knew no one could top it. All time great war film.

Dude, Brando had played Napolion already in the 1954 film Désirée. And honestly, it sucked. Funny, if I think of another actor from around 1970 who could have played Napoleon from young to old, I think either Dustin Hoffman or Al Pacino.

Hoffman had the height down but I don’t think I’d believe him as a military leader. Al Pacino would have been great though
