Finally someone showing Gary Rossington some ❤️. Most comments I read on things that have Skynyrd on them, they go on & on abt how great Allen, Ed & a few Steve. Some people said Gary is an average guitar player. I am not sure what they are listening to but thank you. What a great band, sky would have been the limit. I love all 4 guitar payers, all were super talented & so amazing how they made the 3rd guitar army sound so damn good is impressive. They all had great solos, glad to see Billy getting some love as well. Hid rock boogie woogie style just makes me so happy listening to it. Maybe they were other piano player technically better, although he was classically trained. Can't imagine Skynyrd without all his great solos. I've Call me the Breeze, Gary great quitar & Billy some mean piano playing.

I guess the point is what you hear. I hear them all!! Collins was lightning fingered, Gaines had such great blues feel and was fast as Collins and bridged the gap between Collins and Rossington, But Rossington could bend the strings with the best of them and terrific slide. Ed King was a technical wizard. I can't for the life of me pick one! I think thats why the band was so successful live and in the studio. Of course, we can't forget Leon Billy and Artimus all terrific on their instruments and the greatest lead singer and lyricist Ronnie. But this is about guitar solos and everyone pitched in with their best so all arguments are true! They all were the best!!

Well Ed told me that he did the lead on Am I Losin and thats why it is also so outstanding...he also in honor of 3 other famous southern rock lead players played each part specially for them ...if it wasn't for Ed King Skynyrd would not have been as big as they were...that guy added alot to that band and never got credit for what he did...Ed King deserves as much respect as anyone else in the band.. most of the more famous hits are written by/with Ed King...

As a 45yr old professional guitarist from the deep south skynyrd hasn't just been an influence, but they literally wrote the soundtrack for "My Life" That being said, Holy shit the song Jacksonville Kid with Gary playing lead? It's nothing like I had ever heard from the band. Why oh why has was Garys roots and fundamental style been hidden for so long? It's absolutely insane! That style of picking is not something you learn or do for a song... It's afundimental style (flat picking/travis picking) that as a guitarist I know he's been working on his whole life... And don't try to act like he done it for one song Jacksonville kid that 45 years I've never heard on the radio nor have I listened to it on one of their released albums... Gary man if your listening, your the fucking man... Nashville ain't got shit on you! Not kieth urban, brad paisley ZIP! .

Choosing the best quitar solos of Skynyrd is even more impossible task than choosing best songs. There was four excellent and one of a kind quitar players in the band with unique styles. But one thing you are surely missing is Ed King. Think he did some freaky shit with his solos, no one plays like he did! But as I said, think they were all just great! You got that right solo one of my favs. Sounds an awful like Allen Collins. He's got that bridge pickup going from his Tele/Strat or one of his Firebirds. The doubled part was one of Allen's preferences in the studio, and you can hear Allen's style with a little Freebird coda solo reprised around 3;38. Love that alternate live take from Sweet Home too!

Beginning would have been Muscle Shoals recordings or First & Last whichever you wanna call it was actually before Pronounced & NINE record companies turned them down. There was issue with the audio of the tape so I can understand in a way but it blows me away that not one of them said , something is wrong with the tape, we would like to hear the way it should be. I did it myself once when I 1st used my husband's realtor reel. It was Kansas & I almost IMMEDIATELY knew I screwed something up so the fact record execs didn't catch it is unbelievable, alot of great songs on it.
