MJ was truly a great player but he benefited mightily from playing with the Bulls at the time. Jerry Reindorf, Owner; Jerry Krause, GM; Phil Jackson, Coach and the cast of players they were able to surround him with. The Bulls were one of the best run organizations in the history of the NBA. And that matters, because if MJ was playing today with the same identical skill set but instead of playing for a competent organization i.e., golden state etc. he played for the Hornets he would not win a single championship unless he left in FA and choose the right team

I still think him retiring in 93 killed his momentum. Bulls overall & esp their bench was even better in 93-94, compared to 92-93, so add MJ to that mix and I see a 4peat. when he came back in 95, he never was really the same player he was pre retirement. They were very thin inside (no Horace or D-Rod on the boards and defense) and Shaq & Horace ate them up inside in that 95 series. I think u mean statically in the playoffs he was better, i'm guessing in 95. statistically he was good in the playoffs, but not in the regular season, at least field goal wise (accuracy). I think he shot like .411 percent from the field I believe in the regular season, but there were times he looked really rusty and was making a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes. His timing looked off at times. In the 95 Playoffs, he had a lot of spring in his jump compared to 96-98. He wasn't dunking in 96-98 like he was in that 95 playoffs. I think that was the last of "Air Jordan" in 95. 96-98 was more fadeaway MJ i thought with flashes of that pre-retirement MJ mixed in.

It’s funny hearing so many fans say the Bulls would’ve won 8 straight rings if he didn’t retire when literally almost every player from those Bulls teams all say it’s no way they would’ve done that. Jordan himself didn’t sound confident that they would win in 99’ had they came back. I think it’s also funny to say the Bulls would’ve won 8 straight while completely ignoring the fact they changed and upgraded their team for the second 3 peat. That probably doesn’t happen if Jordan never retires and if they won their 4th straight ring. Because Horace Grant left to get paid which he did in n Orlando because he saw hoe they shafted Pippen. If you’re winning you usually have to pay guys more. If they didn’t pay Horace and Jordan stayed they would’ve gotten destroyed by Dream or Shaq because they had no frontline and Rodman wasn’t there yet and if they payed Horace then they don’t get Rodman and maybe no Harper (who got payed the most money in his career in Chicago mainly because Pip didn’t get paid). Again most of the players on those teams all agree they weren’t running off 6-8 straight which I agree with

Still and always The GOAT But, I hope to see an Allen Iverson, Shaquille O'neal, Kobe Bryant and even LeBron James one of these now. #GoodHistoricStuff

Just to add, if Bulls re-signed Phil Jackson for another 3 to 5 years after the 1998 that would have meant the Lakers which won three straight championships from 2000 - 2002 would not have had Phil as the head coach. Now if the Bulls kept the team together after the 1998 season and added the talented youth to ease the burden off of the vets they may have beaten the Spurs in 1999 and would not have faced the Lakers juggernaut since Phil would have been the Bulls coach an not coaching the Lakers. Take away the first retirement, and add two chips, plus the 1999 chip and maybe the championships from 2000 -2002 and that would be 6 additional championships giving Jordan 12 championships in 18 seasons (1984 -2002). Bill Russell won 11 chips in 13 seasons. For Jordan's first 6 years he carried the team and was the best player in the league. When Jordan averaged 37 points lead the league in steals and lead all guards in shot blocks, became MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, he didn't win a championship in that year, which statistically was his best season. Imagine if his team was a little better, Jordan would have won championships sooner. On the court Jordan may have been the most impactful player ever. Remember, Russell never lead his team in scoring and always had a great supporting cast with several Hall of Famers. Jordan was superb on both ends of the court. Kobo.com/us/en/ebook/robbing-hoods

Lets face it, if he didn’t have Pippin/Phil and was drafted on any other team in 84 he wouldn’t have close to 6 chips. He maxed his potential based on his situation and trying to imply 6 chips isn’t good enough just shows why people have unrealistic expectations like what’s going on with Victor W.
