Green frogs are fairly common around me. Another very common frog here is the leopard frog. I use to see pickerel frogs fairly often as a kid but not so much anymore. I’ll find wood frogs here and there also. Spring peepers, grey tree frogs and cricket frogs are some of my favorite to find but few and far between. However I do hear them.

@@natureatyourdoor pretty common around me. It’s kinda amazing how terrestrial they are. I find them quite aways from water. As long as there is tall grass to jump into and some moisture/shade.

I love my green frogs. I live on a lake and was constantly finding them in puddles around my yard so I built a little pond for them. It's only 2 feet long but it can have as many as a dozen or more green frogs in it at a time! It rarely has bullfrogs in it though! Do bullfrogs prefer larger bodies of water than green frogs do? As always, thank you for these wonderful videos!

I recall a video that Frank did with a teen, (Tyler, maybe? Can't recall the name). Anyway, that person mentioned that it is VERY difficult to catch a Bull Frog unless you can locate their gathering spot, (In other words, base camp)? JS - it was a very good video...in case you have a minute to review that one.

Glad you found me...yeah..the KZitem algorithm is not really supporting small channels through promos to support the channel. Rather the algorithm thinks it knows what you woukd rather watch and sends you random suggestions over what you have subscribed too. I have almost 30,000 subscribers..,but am lucky to get a thousand views in a week on an episode,,,because I am sure my subs are seeing a notification buried in algoritm suggested views. Friends in the know..say if I had started my channel 5 years ago it would have really blown up. I do have 2.5 million views...grateful..but I focus in response from individuals like you...thst makes it rewarding for me...not numbers!

I certainly learnt a few things! Coming from the UK, where our typical frogs race from egg to maturity over the course of a single summer, I had no idea some of America's commonest frogs spent up to two years as tadpoles before they metamorphosed.

There's a nearby fen at our lake property that supports several species of frogs, including the green frog. From the fen, many end up near our dock helping control the insect population. For some unexplained reason, the bullfrogs disappeared back in the late 70's. Although I enjoy the calls of the green frog, I kind of miss the low groan of the bullfrog during the evening hours.

Love your lessons in nature. This past spring, we diiscovered a puddle that was alive with tiny tadpoles. We scooped some up and watched them grow in a fishbowl. In about a month, they had turned into little, bright green "froglings" that the grandkids soon let go in the foliage by our fishpond. We always wondered if they were frogs or tree toads.

I live in Newport News Virginia, and have a very large back yard. Over the years, I have seen all of the reptiles and amphibians, disappear. I am thinking about creating a VERY LARGE semi-natural pond in the back yard. I just want to bring back what "used" to be here, but I don't want to make the issue worse. Do you think this is a mistake, that may attract rats? We have rats and mice the past few years, due to no snakes. I used to have many snakes, but they've been gone for years. I would really appreciate your response.

The pond would be great! Think of how great that would be for reptiles and amphibians if every one had a backyard pond...with a few minnows in it to eat mosquito larva. No...no worries on rats and mice...pond water is not a factor in populations. I just put in a 100 gallon plastic pond next to my house as well...i need to do an episode share on that too!

Great information! Thank you for sharing Frank! I feel like I could identify them by sound and their skin folds and the ear drum. Does the eardrum to eye thing hold true for all frogs? I would think the female's would be bigger because she is the one listening for the calls.
