The thing that I extra disliked wasn't even just the very sexual nature of the vows (which were a gross thing to say in front of your mom) but the way in which he only discussed her in ways that benefitted him. He said 'to keep me happy you need to feed me which you need to work on' which frames her as needing to serve him, while she basically apologized for not doing exactly what he wants
@ellenbreen12

I had a friend whose boyfriend used to joke about pushing her down the stairs and kicking or punching her in the stomach if she ever got pregnant. He also used to talk openly about their sex life and joke about how his little brother would wait and watch from the closet while they did it. He made so many horrible comments about her and her body in front of her, her friends, and his friends. It was incredibly clear that these kinds of jokes and conversations made her deeply uncomfortable, but she never said anything. She would just smile and playfully roll her eyes at him. She changed so much about herself to make herself palatable for him. They’re still together 3 years later and I feel fairly certain this is the BOY she’ll settle for and end up with. It’s so sad watching such a smart, funny, beautiful young woman grow to believe she deserves that kind of treatment. I think it speaks to a larger issue of how we condition people socialized as women to interact with people socialized as men. They’re allowed to treat us any way they please and we must smile and shut up about it.

The tik toks that the bride posted were facts; yes you do know your relationship better than anyone and yes if you’re happy and love each other then great your relationship is not gonna be the same as the next couple. But the way she is in denial about the fact that your husband chose to have vows that sexually objectified you as well as a described you as a personal chef was just so degrading to himself, herself, their family, and their relationship. You can be funny in your wedding vows without degrading someone and that’s what she seems to not understand. Describing someone only as a person who is there to sexually please you just takes away your humanity and empathy as a human and her saying that that’s what she wanted… she deserves SO much better.

Unsolicited haircare advice: It may be worthwhile to look into whether you actually have dandruff, or just a dry scalp. Dandruff is a fungus that makes your scalp flaky, and the shampoos and hair products for treating it dry your scalp out as a consequence of killing the fungus. If your scalp is just flaking because its dry, dandruff treatments only make the problem worse because they're making your scalp even drier, and thus, flakier. The ouroboros of trying to treat a dry scalp with drying dandruff shampoo is what keeps Head&Shoulders in business. I have a scalp that loves being dry and flaky, and hair products geared towards moisturizing and hydrating my hair and scalp are what help me. I am not a dermatologist or haircare expert, but if you have the means to consult with either of those, it may help.

I don’t understand why this is so complicated for dudes. My wife literally wants sex more often than I do. What’s our secret? I just try not to be a douche bag. I do romantic things. I help her out. I call her beautiful every day and I mean it. I kiss her. I do her laundry without her asking. The other day I bought her mom flowers because she said she hadn’t gotten any in decades. That made my wife cry. There have been times where my wife wasn’t in the mood. During her entire pregnancies. I never once made her feel bad about that. I shaved her legs during pregnancy lol. I encouraged her to follow her dream job and payed for it. Oh! And there was NO mention of her pleasure in those vows. That says everything right there. I’m willing to bet money she hasn’t ever experienced an O with this guy. I’m not saying this to act all superior. I can give you an equally long list of things I do that annoy her lol. And she does more for me than I do for her. But the point is I at least try to treat her the way she deserves to be treated. And because the bar is on the floor she accepts that. And our sex life is absolutely amazing. I wish I could brag about it to people in detail because it’s literally better than I could have ever wished for. Even after two kids. You don’t need to do stuff like this. Just be normal!
@Jupiter-T

I mean you are kind of bragging, but honestly, maybe men should brag more about this if it'll raise the bar overall. Seriously! As of now, I'm always a bit disappointed when guys are made fun of for doing sweet and (arguably) normal things for their partners - compliments, chores, childcare, thoughtful gestures, etc. It's only toxic if it's a one-way street! Men shouldn't be seen as weak or losers if they're sweet or pitch in around the house. Responsibility and kindness are not weakness, they're signs of maturity.
