You are a gift from God! Keep these videos coming! I am a 53-year-old retired army veteran with PTSD and full blown alcoholism that I have perfected for over 30 years. I recently stopped drinking and you have been my "Daily Meeting" that has given me perspective and kept me from drinking. Right after watching one of your videos, I feel like an elephant has been lifted off my chest! Every video you make seem like you are reading my life manuscript! God Bless you and your family. Hi LD I commented on your Live session a few days ago. I was in a bad state. I took your advice and went to hospital. I had a BAC of 0.345. The nurses were astonished I could sit upright and breathing. I stayed overnight and got some medication for possible withdrawal. Well I had withdrawal bad at home with family for 3 days. Made it to the other side. So thankful and have a plan to get outpatient counseling and go to meetings.

Some great encouraging words again. I'm up early on a Saturday morning in Australia. I'm feeling good, hangover free. It's been that way for 20 years. We're off to do a bit of grandchildren/house/dog sitting for a couple of days. That just made me think that I've been sober for all the years that we've had grandchildren. The thought always occurs to me, could I really be responsible for my grandchildren while I'm drinking. How am I going to act when there's an emergency? what if I have to drive somewhere urgently? Just feels good to know that I'm going to be totally capable all the time. All the best to you, thank you for all your encouraging words. We're all behind you. Regards.

When I started replacing alcohol for food, I also was taking care of 4 children, children of kids I grew up with. Long story short.... I drank and drove one day, go into a wreck. Car was totaled but Thank God the children were perfectly fine. If not, I'd be in jail for vehicular manslaughter. I do have a felony and it does make things incredibly difficult work wise. That was 25yrs ago and I'm blessed to have those children and parents in my life still. I was forgiven. I continued to drink because of shame. I have been watching your video's for a bit now. Everything you say I have lived. It is crazy how that works.. Anyway, you have helped me quite a bit. I recently quit alcohol. Its been about 5 weeks now. I have done that many times in the past for a few days but never because I really wanted to. It was always after something bad happened but after a few days I would be right back into it. This time I quit for the same reason but this time I truly wanted it to end. That is the only difference. It was not fun those first two weeks. Felt like complete shit, I was cranky, my thinking was horrible and I knew all I needed to do was make a drink and everything would be golden. I somehow managed to get through those two weeks and things started really changing. I felt better, my attitude was better and my sense of humor came back. I found out that I didn't need to drink to feel "right" or to laugh. Two weeks ago I started working out, going on walks and went on a low carb high protein diet. I am down 12 pounds in that two weeks and feel effin fantastic. I never thought any of this was possible but what you have had to say is an exact clone of who I was. It was you that really spoke to me and got me here. Thank You!!!

You look and sound much better today dude! We can feel guilty and live with regret over our aud, but really there's no point in doing that. What's important is that we are sober now and that's all that matters. If only I knew back then what I know now, I would have either quit drinking a long time ago, or just never started in the first place. Unfortunately, you can't change the past. All we can control is the right now, and hopefully we continue making the right decisions in the future. I'm not proud of my alcoholism and I'm not ashamed of it either, at least not anymore. Like everything else whether good or bad, my alcoholism is just another part of my life story; something I can learn from and use to help others too, just like you're doing right now by making these videos. Diff context, but the principle is the same Don't be haunted by past regrets, but look forward ...like you said, one day at a time, even if tomorrow has its own hurdles.

So sorry you felt like a "horrible human being" because you became an alcoholic. So sorry for all the social forces that pushed you to drink hard in the first place-as if "not being able to drink" is somehow wimpy or unmanly. So sorry for the social forces that made it seem funny or clever or amiable to encourage you to be "the beer guy," thus making alcohol part of your identity. So sorry for all the social forces, stupid customs and supposed friends that took you away from your true self for decades and shoved you down the imprisoning path of alcoholism. I greatly admire how you've taken what can only be called a personal tragedy and transformed it into a powerful and compassionate tool for helping others. Hopefully, seeing how your story has changed others' lives will bring you some peace. Finally, may God grant you decades more in this world and forever bless and keep your extraordinary heart and soul. 🙏❤❤

Thank you so much Kathryn! In the end of it all, it was ultimately my decision to drink the way that I did. I didn't know that I could end up sick the way I did at my age, but that was my lack of knowledge. I should have looked into it. With that said, that's why I am here every day speaking about this. To spread the knowledge about the dangers of alcohol. I want as many people to know as possible that alcohol can and will cause physical harm if consumed in a non moderated way. Thank you so much for everything you said here!!! I hope that I will be around for decades to come as well!!! As long as I can speak, I will continue to make these videos and try to help others not have to go through what I have. Hope your morning is going great! God bless❤❤❤❤❤

@@liverdisease-qb6rkThanks for your long reply. The problem, of course, is that the alcoholic brain sucks at making or executing any decisions that don’t favor continued ingestion of alcohol. So all effort needs to be put on keeping people out of the “alcoholism pipeline” to begin with or, for those who are already alcoholics, somehow getting them away from alcohol long enough to be able to form thoughts and plans to break their addiction to alcohol. (Don’t know if this is correct since I don’t have an insider perspective.)

I don't think anyone who hasn't experienced it can understand that feeling of watching your own body going trough the motions of getting more substance to use while thinking "what am I doing?". Feeling shameful and happy at the same time because the decision to use has been taken. To be 100% convinced of sobriety one minute, the next 100% convinced to consume, not understanding how the switch happened, feeling sad and excited simultanously. It is so weird. I too am convinced that this is something that just happens, just like some of us happen to become teachers, others become plumbers. Or that some people like playing golf, others gravitate towards religion. It's something the unique makeup of each individual just happens to tend towards. To realize that a lot of our actions, thoughts and emotions is out of our control, and so let go of the guilt, can take time. But it truly is an important step on the way to getting better. We have to forgive ourselves for who we are. After all, we didn't choose any of the aspects that make up our subconscious. It's a bad hand to be dealt, and we work with what we have. Thanks for making these videos brother, people need to hear stuff like this.

Hey man, I just wanted to thank you for putting out such a great video is really super inspiring. I’ve been sober now for almost 2 months but it took me to hit rock bottom to sober up! I know in the past, you’ve probably done videos of having cirrhosis and the side effects in the way that it’s affected your life! And I know that you have a Lotta other medical issues but I was just wondering if you could touch base on how it’s changed you having cirrhosis thank you for being such a great person and so inspiring to so many people. I’m just really scared because I’ve never had anything like this happen to me and the doctors haven’t really told me much so thank you.

I believe we know when we are almost gone because it’s at that point you’d rather sit in the depths of hell before you reach out & ask for help. Shame … 1 emotion that when we “feel” or sit with shame can literally end our life. One emotion ~ One One life yet so many family members told me they loved me… They left me behind ❤ If it were as easy to stop as some believe it to be why do so many of us die? “We feel too much” “Your so sensitive” However I’d choose “being too sensitive” Some numb by “Never feeling” any negative feelings I actually feel empathy towards them We can choose to sit in our shame, wear it like a blanket or coat as we walk blindly looking for our Nxt hit or drink or we can choose to LIVE for the family we have here now. I choose to live All I have on my ❤

Thank you so much and I am so sorry. I would speak to your Dr about a tips, it helped me alot. Score the duck breast on the skin side, season both sides, get your pan hot, skin side down in the pan and do not move it until you see the sides start to turn brown about 2 minutes and flip for another 2. That's it, med rare to med and slice on the bias. Thank you! God bless😊😊😊

Try drinking water when you're hungry because sometimes you aren't actually hungry and water will fill up some space in your stomach. Coffee will blunt your appetite. Chewing gum can keep you occupied as well. Trident is great for your teeth.

What helped me.. who used to be the biggest junk food junkie.. was first educating myself on the food I was eating. What's in it? Is it a "whole food" or packaged, processed food? What's the difference between the different kinds of oils/fats? And sugars? Once I started eating like our ancestors and as close to nature as possible, my cravings started going away. I used to battle an extra 15-20 lbs.. but now I'm naturally thin while eating high fat foods (but healthy fats!) and have stopped even thinking about food, calories, etc.
