In situation 2, you can’t leave until your bus shows up, and you’re still stuck there if the interaction goes south, so you’ve got no choice but to be as cordial as possible with the person and just hope they don’t follow you when your bus arrives LOL

Because he fundamentally misunderstands what a personality hire is, not only does he think he is one, he also thinks he's the most competent worker in his entire department. Yes, of _course_ it's fine for him to spend seven hours every workday arguing with strangers on Twitter and binge-watching cartoons on Hulu, because during the single hour he does work, he saves the whole department and/or company from bumbling off a cliff no fewer than five times. Everyone knows he's a better worker than them, which is why they either hang on his every word or try to sabotage him by acting like he's unfunny and unprofessional. Sure, okay, _maybe_ he steps a single toe over the line sometimes. But it's fine, actually, because he gets away with it. What are they gonna do, fire him? When he's such an indispensible asset to these people who barely know their asses from a USB port? He's been pretty much the leader of the pack at every job he's ever had. That's why he has to find a new one practically every year -- because there's always one person on his team who just can't _stand_ how much everybody else loves him. Weirdly enough, it's usually either his boss or his boss's boss. Guess they don't like anyone challenging their authority by being honest about how stupid their ideas are.

The best part about "Boart" is that people who love it the most usually don't understand that the joke is on them. "It couldn't be released today" is not true even if you believe in the whole cancel culture. First if all, the second part came out a few years. Whatever you think about SBC and the problems surrounding him, his jokes are designed to expose the deeply seated rcsm and sxsm of individuals involved. It flies over the heads of people like this guy. Instead of being shocked and laughing at a person's ignorance and their real self at display, they laugh with them, giggling at slurs and finding humor in rcsm and sxsm on the screen.
