Glorious content as always Apostolic, I love listening to the dulcet tones of your exposition while I'm at work.

I expected a standard exposition of Habsburg history. Instead I got a passionate plea for Christian aristocratic rule and clear explanation why it proved untenable. Serious research and quite deep look into the shifting spiritual structure of Europe in the nineteenth century. Even if I disagree I say bravo.

Seems like the anti-revolutionary coalition idea didn't work in part because the revolutions of the 19th Century were not themselves coherent across nations, they were democratic and nationalistic but they didn't represent the kind of threat that could unify powers that had longstanding antagonisms. The 20th century would furnish a coherent revolutionary movement that could actually rally such an alliance, but by then the old empires were gone.

Do you believe Austria should have tried expanding when Germany and Italy when it had opportunities, against Metternich’s recommendation during the first half of the 19th century?
@jackwalters5506

They should have had a focused foreign policy at least. They should have realized that they weren't powerful enough to be dominant in Germany, Italy, and the Balkans and focused more heavily on one of those. Of those three, Germany had the best prospects as most of the minor German states were pro-Austrian and united with Austria against the common enemies in Prussia and France

Yes, I also think they should have focused in controlling Germany as they rooted in German culture. That could have changed everything!

One correction, it was not the seat of Saint Peter in Rome that guaranteed unity in the first 1000 years of Christianity but the ecumenical councils and this same principle has been kept in the Church (Orthodox Catholic Church).

It sounds remarkably familiar that the Holy League fell apart due to religious pluralism. Looking in from the outside, I have no idea why the DR doesn't essentially anathematize everybody who is not Catholic from it's ranks. I mean what is BAP actually giving you?
