I would say, humans have the chance to create "optimal" situations. When it is cold we heat. When it is hot we use airconditioning. When it is dry we irrigate when it is wet we dry. When sleepy we drink coffee when we are too excited or anxious we take some dope drugs. When it is bright we use sunglasses when it is dark we switch the light on. We perfectly switched the nature off from our world creating an eventless, tastless, odourless lukewarmly dull life we call perfect. Then we try to compensate, doing extreme sports, having drugs and alcohol and creating a lot of weird things otherwise we would not do. Living in nature is not necessarily better than living in a sterilised big city. Living in nature brings lot of problems to solve everyday. Small problems but our own problems. On the other hand, working for companies we solve someone elses problems and getting paid and spending that money on foods clotches services etc which are made by someone else. We lose the feeling of having the world as ours.

As a Indian born in an Orthodox family, this video is quite interesting for me... From childhood we have been taught to limit our desires as much as possible, but it's hard nowadays seeing the world is progressing so much around us and with the internet being accessible to each and everyone, it's rather tempting to pursue our desires more than ever. You can't detach yourself from everyone and everything, also you can't give yourself into what our people call 'western degeneracy'. So one has to find the perfect balance in the society and this too is hard at times. We are so entangled with materialism that it becomes hard to abstain from everything. But I figured out long ago exactly what you are trying to convey here. We are never going to be satisfied... There is nothing like last wish, our wishes, our desires outlast us.. But if you are happy in the process of achieving something, that's the pure happiness... That's THE happiness.. Nothing else... One can't get rid of his wants, he can never sit down and feel satisfied for long time but all we can do is thrive to Achieve more all while remaining content with the process and knowing deep down inside that in the end it's not going to make sense... A perfect balance between neurobiology and philosophy (in my words)...

Humans are social and tribal animals. Their happiness generally comes from those around them to engage them pleasantly. Unfortunately since the computer age, personal social interactions have decreased exponentially to the point where we defy our own nature and isolate ourselves from others. Many blame the pandemic but that’s just none sense. Two years did not create what we see today. Isolationism has been for some time. Had it not, people wouldn’t have been so easily willing to isolate during the pandemic. The sad reality is all this hate, anger, and toxicity through algorithmic echo chambers results in the mind plague we see today. Yes, there was a time when we could disagree and debate and each other then go watch a game together at the local bar…

Both happiness and sadness are transitory. The thumbnail depicting simple/poor living conditions as being happy in reality might just be laziness. While the depiction of rich conditions being sad might be better described as stressful, as it takes a greater degree of effort than average to acquire, maintain and grow wealth.

The problem is (at least for me) is that sure I can love myself, but it feels cheap. I can love myself but that feels too easy because its coming from me. To recieve it from another feels more valuable, because I am not in control of it. In the same way that I can set rules for myself but ultimately I can break those rules any time, whereas if someone else is enforcing rules then I am less able to break them. Its like it means more coming from another.

The thing about seeking love from people and getting validation from them is that people are as fallible to you as you are to yourself. They won't come through for you all the time because they're not perfect. And in those moments where they cannot be perfect for you, you start to hate yourself because it would mean to you that if you're not enough for them, you're simply not enough. Just talk to God, because validation seeking from people will destroy your life. I'm talking from experience.

When I watched this video I couldn't help but think of Marcus Aurelius, Jordan Peterson and the philosophy of Feng Shui, and the teachings of Buddha. My favorite line from Marcus Aurelius's Meditations is where Marcus talks about sleeping naked and on the floor at least one day out of the week to remind himself that all of his possessions are temporary. Jordan Peterson teaches us that deliberate and thoughtful presence within the home (i.e Clean up your house) makes us being to look at things beyond ourself. Feng Shui's philosophy about room construction and designing the spaces within can have a clear impact on our mental and emotional levels. And lastly the teachings of Buddha help us to appreciate the present moment and feel more comfortable within ourselves while also expanding that connection to all other things. (At least that's what I think any way)

Many working people are now priced out of affordable food, shelter and healthcare. Our physical bodies have to be kept alive and healthy. No amount of mindset change can fix these things only fairer economic policies will fix it. When our most basic needs for physical survival are not met it is npt possible to even survive nevermind flourish.

Basically the only way to thrive in any way in modern American society is if you are proper brainwashed and made part of the group from a young age. And even if you are off the path a bit in this way or that they have come up with ways for you to still make or spend money. But if you have rejected this whole b.s. thing from the start. Been cast out because you saw something the others didn't and then acted (or in-acted on acted) on your feelings. Since I was able to walk and talk I felt like I didn't belong here. Like I wasn't even human if the people around me were. It's only gotten worse. I have no idea where I belong and I'm sure I will never find it. The hell with it all anyways. Fuck being happy! Fuck being sad. Doesn't matter what your puny little life is or feels. Each of us will be dead in hardly no time. And eventually on day the earth will get burned up by the sun. None of this matters.

In case anyone was curious, the Christian perspective on this issue is simply that humanity is cursed by its very nature, and that there's nothing any of us can do about that. We are promised that the curse will one day be lifted, but that is beyond our control. Making peace with that fact and doing our best in spite of it is a really big deal for Christians, and an issue that I see a lot of other major religions and philosophies also make an effort to solve.

1. I think you underestimate desire to climb in social hierarchy for certain people. That's biological thing. 2. The same with desire to explore, to build, to change, to conquer. For this - you need to aquire resources - and for this - you automatically have to be more rich then people around you. 3. We still didn't get the ultimate energy-supply that will be effective to feed everyone if everyone will stop work. So should be some ways to force people to work. And I would like it to be not totalitarian government, but just merely my own survival instinct (not become homeless, not die because I can't afford food or medicine). - that is very very natural thing - I am working because I don't want to die. Like any other animal on this planet.

My first time here and already feeling at home. Seen this thanks to Dave from Beast nation. Totally recommending to my friends.
