What is the hardest decision to make as a Wildlife Photographer? What is the hardest part of Wildlife Photography? Those are questions that may be different for every photographer, but in this week's video, I was faced with some hard choices to make. There are a lot of difficult aspects of wildlife photography. Just finding animals to photograph is extremely difficult. Knowing how to behave around them, adequately hiding yourself to photograph them and positioning yourself in a good spot to photograph them can all be very hard. But once you've figured all that out, and then you have to leave abruptly can be even more difficult. This year in Alaska, I was faced with that very scenario and had to make the incredibly difficult decision to end my trip early for my own safety and that of my equipment.
As hard as that decision was to make, it was in my best interest and turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I'm happy with how things turned out this year in Alaska and so thrilled with the content I was able to get of these amazing Bears as they fished for Salmon and wrestled around on the tundra. The Ptarmigan I was also able to photograph were wonderful and overall, I had a wonderful year in such a beautiful place. I can't wait to return next year!
Next year will be a lot different for me out there. For a long time now I've been putting together some Bear Photography Workshops, and I'm finally ready to start them up next year. I'll leave a link with more details below, I hope you can join me next year in photographing these amazing animals!
