You hit the nail on the head for me! I have been decluttering for about two years now. I’m a seamstress and crafter and have been sewing for over 50 years. You can only imagine how much stuff I have. This has been my most difficult area because it is part of my identity. Thank you very much for your encouragement.

Oh Laura, we have a lot in common. I was a HUGE scrapbooker! I took all the classes and even taught all the classes. I finished over 20 albums that NOONE looks at! Ugh. Soo heartbreaking. When we moved across five states, I gave it all away. All of it!! Thousands of dollars worth. Although sometimes I really want to do that again, it is usually fleeting and quickly replaced with my other projects. I now work on digital pictures once a month just to get them all organized. Nothing else. But the weight of all of that is gone! I don't regret a single penny spent or given away. The cake decorating supplies, however? I am still holding out hope! 😂

This is one of your top videos in declutterring. During the pandemic I luckily had saved my craft supplies from years ago to keep me busy. However now I’m having trouble getting rid of all of it. One of your videos you spoke of declutterring for a few minutes at a time-which has been very helpful. Thank you for your inspirational videos. I’m a big fan of your work.

Aww yes, Project Life!🤣 I wanted to be this great scrapbooker but finally decided it wasn’t going to happen. Last year I moved and sold about 80% of my supplies…now to sell or donate the other 20% and let it go!

Thank you for doing this video!!! I had lots of ideas of what I was going to do when I retired. That was 7 years ago. Most of them I haven't done. I have chosen another avenue. But, you are so right, I have had a terrible time admitting that I am not going to do these things. I just recently started a deep clean in my craft room and I have started putting stuff I WON"T be using in boxes (yes BOXES) for my fall rummage sale. It is very freeing! I have plenty more, but I am started!!! I can't wait to do the things I want to do without the guilt about the things I planned but never will do!

I had a collection of cookbooks and finally decided I wasn’t going to take the time to browse those and create new recipes very often. I kept a few for occasional browsing and inspiration.

I used to quilt & decluttered all my stuff to an out building. Then I started making my own cards so now I have all that goes along with that. I've realized l, I'd rather quilt, but now I don't know what to do becauseI've not made a card in 1 1/2 yrs due to having back surgery again. I am currently deluttering my space again & trying to decide if I want to bring my quilt stuff back in or go back to making cards. 🤪

Perfect timing for this video! I had just decided to give away my picture frames for my wall of family photos I have been planning on doing for the past 15 years!! And now time to get real in the craft room! Thanks for your inspiration!

Too many projects at once is quantity over quality. I’ve had to learn this lesson also. It can be scary to give your full attention to one thing when there’s so many options out there, but it’s worth it, as I started learning an instrument in my late thirties, only to realise that I had to give it my full attention, which meant letting go of other projects. I’m glad I did, as I’ve since reached grade 5 and find it to be very rewarding. Thanks for the great advice in this video 😊

OMgoodness. I have to agree. I’ve been doing plenty of decluttering, but the room that is the hardest is my craft room. I’m going to have to admit after all the investment, there are certain crafts I will not do. I have the crafts I love and do every day. As for the others, I’m going to have to let go.

Great video and it gave me an ah-ha moment!! Thanks! I love to dabble in a lot of things and have great aspirations that unfortunately more likely than not remain “aspirations”!! Unfortunately or maybe fortunately they are beginning to close in on me! Right now, and thanks for the encouragement, I’m about to go through piles of “someday” Bible studies I’ve printed off! Plus piles of miscellaneous good info I’ve printed off and couldn’t find even if I could remember what it was!! 🙄 There may be hope for me yet!!

“Significant T-shirts”! I totally intend to make t-shirt quilts for my kids with all the shirts from teams they’ve been on and plays they’ve performed in. But I just haven’t gotten around to doing it. Now I’m wondering whether it’s even something they are really going to want. This clutter probably just needs to go, but man, is it going to hurt!

Oh, Laura, you certainly are right about aspirational clutter. My three children are 44, 48 and 50 and I have baby books that are almost blank and I feel guilty every time I see them on the shelf. Your video today was so motivating and so inspiring. I’m setting a goal to get as much done as I can within a reasonable amount of time and then turn them over to them, however complete they are! Now that sounds like freedom. I need to look around some more for guilt-producing half done projects or unneeded items. I truly love your videos. Always a nugget of wisdom! Best to you and your family. Hope you are continuing to feel better. Donnie

I'm a knitter, and yesterday I made a HUGE clutter decision and got rid of *gasp* a bunch of yarn. It has been given to me, and at the time I anticipated using it. There was a lot of yarn, I saved one full skein I know I'll use. I also saved two pairs of knitting needles that were in the bag. I'll use them for sure. WHEW!

Thank you, Laura! So helpful! I just counted 16 banker boxes of photos and slides from family and myself. I too am not a scrapbooker now. What is a "quick," inexpensive way to handle these boxes? Can you recommend a scanner that does a sharp, clear job for photobooks? I want just a few photobooks for myself. My kids want a record of some happy memories, not documentaries of their lives. I have no idea of how to get from A to Z in a way that doesn't take "forever." Also, I open a box, feel despair or distress, then close it. Thank you to anyone with ideas!
