My father cried and begged me to lose weight when I turned 50. His mother died suddenly of a heart attack at 55, and I looked just like her. I am about to turn 60, and I am down 130 pounds. I am serious about figuring out how to lose these last 30 pounds. My father was diabetic and has a normal A1c now. He is 87! Dr. Boz=Super Hero!

Man, I apparently have a lot to say. My take on that CGM is, ignorance is bliss. I've been 100% Lion Diet for 124 days and have turned ALL my "numbers" 180°. My VA doctor (?) was floored on my last appointment, February 22nd. "?" -- I should explain. I'm a Vietnam Vet and get FREE health(?)care from the VA. All I can say is, you get what you pay for! EDIT: I eat the Lion Diet only Monday, Wednesday and Friday. No food 4 days a week. Before you start looking for rocks to stone me, give this a think: Will your car run any better if you top it off with fuel, stopping at EVERY filling station you find? I should also level with you: I'm autistic and my IQ is through the roof - well over 160. Bottom line: I'm just different!

My wife has always loved Sardines. She is German and was fed fish, not limited to Sardines, and even tried to fed me can soon after we were married. Yuk, well, I actually said, “what the hell is this?” Anyway, 38 years later, I now eat Sardines out of a tin with her! Married 52 years now. I am Ketogenic/carnivore as well. I actually prefer Icelandic Cod Livers packed in a tin with their own oil! Tastes like Tuna and I can eat that easily. She will make spaghetti and mix it in with the oil, or make deviled eggs mixed with Cod livers, absolutely delicious! Tons of Omega 3 fats with the DHA/EPA that one needs! Your story sounded very much like ours! We are both independent, self reliant, and we do a lot of give and take. Hey, we are still married! Thank you for your story, Dr Boz!

@kirshens I am only eating one meal a day. When I eat, it has been at least five cans, and as many as seven cans. I start my day with Redmons Real Salt Electrolytes and MCT oil. I am not hungry, nor do I lack energy. Honestly, I probably could have skipped tonight's feast. However, I thought it would be best if I ate. My glucose was 82. I got a real kick out of this one! 40 years in July for us. This video came timely, just today I heard back from my doctor about getting a continuous glucose monitor. I figured since I am not a diabetic Medicare and insurance would not cover so I made sure to let my doctor know that I was willing to pay for the valuable information one could provide. While I was waiting for an answer from Doctors office I called three places to see what their costs would be. When doctors office returned my call I was told that I would not qualify for for him to write a script out for one, since I was not a diabetic yet. I told the nurse, well and I am not going to be one either that is why I wanted the Monitor. I weighed this morning 322.50 pounds, I have lost 30.50 since January. I am day 52 of carnivore with 13.50 lbs down doing that protocol. Only three times going over 6 carbs. I don’t understand why my doctor can’t understand why I could use this as a valuable tool. He just thinks you should push away from the table sooner. Calories in calories out… It is late so tomorrow I will call the places once again and find out who has the best price for a Dexcon G7 monitor and then try to follow your instructions. I can’t thank you enough.

I finished 72 hours sardines today. Though not what you want I am still thrilled at my ratio of 101. (132 BG/1.3 ketones) this morning. Husband and I will celebrate 35 years July 9, 1988 and two adult children married thru CV. I’ve been overweight for almost our whole marriage (except fist 2 yrs) and probably diabetic for 20 years but for 8 years don’t know and then during the 10 years my mother had dementia and I helped my father take care of her (hers was a horrible case the whole time - no nursing home would take her). I just couldn’t pay attention to my health. I did 13 years ago lose 50 lbs and A1c down to 5.0. That only lasted 1 yr. Gained some back and numbers back up but just couldn’t pay attention to me, Mom and dad needed me. Well Mom finally passed away after 10.5 yrs from her dementia. I was terribly sad. I have been trying to lose weight on and off but I have finally found out that being IR is a catch 22. Didn’t know that being IR is hard to reverse but until you do that weight loss is almost impossible. I also had total hysterectomy Dec 2010. Only estrogen for 5 yrs. So here I am going to an alternative Dr group. Have CGM and that has been eye opening and watching the dawn phenomenon (ugh) and numbers going up and down. Amazed at this sardine fast that my numbers are not so spiky. Even after eating low carb (no breads potatoes rice etc) it’s not working until the sardines! Looking forward to being a part of the group going forward. TY

I could not love this video more! I am also a bossy wife, not always easy, but my intention for my husband is health and happiness. When he retired early from the military, he thought he’d spend his life as a security guard at a local shop. I told him he had to finish college or I would not marry him. This year he starts his doctoral research at UChicago and got a dream job in his field. He thanks me everyday and our love has never been stronger, but anyone else probably would not still be with me. Bravo for loving your husband honestly, but also for knowing there are only occasional times and places that such direct honesty serves him. ❤

Happy Anniversary! Thank you so much for sharing WHERE you started at. It's very encouraging for new people who feel they are just not as "LUCKY" as you... They need to see that we all started out BIG and got smaller over time... I am curious if the D7 handles the inflammation changes better. My old Dexcom would say my blood sugar was dropping like a rock, but I was just experiencing a sudden gain in inflammation, and was effectively watering down my interstitial fluid. I could not get it to stay properly sync'ed to my actual glucose. There is often a 30 point difference between a blood stick and my CGM. And my CGM, strangely enough reflects how I feel. So I could have a 90 on a blood stick... And a 60 on the CGM... I will typically feel lethargic near 60. And it wasn't transient (even trying to give it up to 30 minutes). The 2 numbers are just two vastly different numbers. (Taking anti-inflammatory NSAIDS has been documented to do something similar)

This is by far my most favorite Dr. Boz video! We will have our 25 year anniversary in September. I have been trying to get him to join me in eating healthier. He doesn't realize how many meals he is eating that are Keto, but he still drinks his Mountain Dew and Raman bowls. I refuse to buy them, which may even be worse because, now goes to Costco and buys them himself and brings home more goodies, like his chocolate covered ice-cream bars. He does tell me he is eating healthier because he reduced his Mountain Dew from 3 cans a day to 1 can.

26 years together and 20 years married next month! I am now carnivore and back to my weight when we married. But my husband just won't work out or eat right. He is overweight but says "doc" says my numbers are all within range. Ugh. He smokes, eats junk like chips and carbs. We are so alike in many things but totally opposite on our ideas of healthy. I fear I may be a widow too soon. I am trying to be an example but he is not getting the clues. 😩

I ate a can of sardines 2 days ago, after watching your video. ( Just for practice, to see if i could do it) It was a challenge - do it in the dark, or don't look. Lol )

I love how the Dr. Phil show was apart of your past, my son interned on his show & Dr’s. Son Jay’s show “The Doctor’s” I ended up getting a scale for weighing in and a great watch which tracked my weight after one of Dr. Phil’s show. It helped me so much because I was T2 then, I started Keto and now more Ketovore, thank you for all your advice ❤

WOW! MTHRFFN WOW! What a story to share, Doc Bossy Boz! Beautiful story! At first, I was not so impressed with Dr. Boz' husband, as he seemed to be indifferent to Dr. Boz YT channel; however, this amazing story of their amazing lives together changed my view of her wonderful husband, so I'm grateful that they are still together, living amazing lives, the tapestry of which inspires so many of us, married or not. Fiddler on the Roof is one my my very FAVE movies of all time. Even though I've never been married in this lifetime, I've been married in other lifetimes, so I can relate. What a great love story. Best vid yet.

Oh man - Dr. Boz what a great story. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. What a great love story yours is...I really enjoyed hearing all that and seeing all the pictures along the way. I'm new to your channel but I just LOVED THIS. I used to look like your Husband's dad but thanks to Keto and Carnivore and the information from you and soooo many others on YT, I've begun to turn it all around and heal. I'm about 10 months into this journey and already 45# lost with at least 80 more to go....BUT for the first time in my life, I feel like my weight is not only manageable with the proper diet but that I'm also seriously healing up in so many ways. Thanks again for all you do.

Thank you for sharing. I was never lucky enough to find a life partner so consider yourself lucky. What a fantastic idea to offer the rx to those of us that could benefit from a cgm but are not sick enough, by insurance guidelines to need one. I'm going to find out how much it is before I get an rx.

Thanks, Dr Boz, for being amazing, consistently vulnerable and open. Amazing what you have done and who you have helped. Thousands! (We have been married approaching 43 years and I eat sardines for lunch/break the fast most days. My spouse has joined me most days for sardines.) I consume mct oil every day (a matter that you discussed before you got onto sardines for keto/fasting). I have not started a sardine "fast" yet. Great talk today.

Dr. Boz, I met you on low carb cruise. I thought I was doing good. You looked at my CGM log and said, you’d got a lot more work to do. I’ve always been intrigued of your sardine challenge. I had bought some sardines before cruise. I just couldn’t open can. So, I decided I’d probably like then better chilled. They been sitting in fridge. I finally watched some KZitem videos about sardine challenges. Decided, I could eat them with salad and spices. So, I saw three immediate results. I ate 3 sardine salads in 3 days. I immediately saw several benefits. My glucose dropped into 80s the first day. Then as low as 69 the second day. The 3rd day it stayed in the 80s all night long. And below 100 when waking. I ate some Nono carbs today and hard getting below 120 now. I went to store and bought more sardines. I might have to suck it and try an actual sardine only challenge. BS better, Blood pressure better, Slept better. Also, started having some electrolytes I my water. I may have lost 2lbs. Only issue after 3rd day is I was really tired. Will try again and see if I get as tired. I’m a diabetic 2. Thank you. I wear a freestyle libra 2. I agree, the cgm is invaluable! And sardines too! 😀
