@@Janarae18 hey thanks! So the ministry is essentially hosting tristate local shows out of my church’s old sanctuary. We typically do it every month, but I’m exploring doing it twice a month. Again the goal is to not preach at people, but to be Jesus to them by giving them a space to feel welcome without the imposing and looming judgment they have typically felt in a church. Weve been getting a lot of hardcore and metal acts wanting to come through, and tho they are sometimes the furthest thing from Christian, they are rather respectful of the space, kind, considerate, and friendly towards what we are doing. The only two rules I’ve had in place for the space is that “don’t bring alcohol, and don’t slander the church or the faith” and everyone has done a stellar job in respecting that. One of the biggest questions I get is “how the hell did you get a space like this to host shows?” And I explain to them my mission and that I’ve been going to this church for my entire life and they understand the heart and purpose behind what I want to do. Like it or not, Christians have done a good job at ruining Jesus for people, and in my 10 plus years of playing shows at bars and going to concerts, I hear heartbreaking stories about how the concert goers or the performers have been pushed away from the church when they went looking for healing. So I’ve called the space “the bridge” in an effort to “bridge the gap” between the church world and everyone else, to show others the church isn’t as judgmental and imposing as those who poorly represented Christ have been lead to believe. It’s slow going, but I’ve seen some fruit in my endeavors, with many noting that it stands in stark contrast to the typical bar venue, as it’s safe and welcoming and everyone who runs it is so kind. Even had some people tell me “this is the first time in a long time where I’ve actually felt welcome in a church”… and of course that’s touched me. If you’re interested, you can follow my endeavors on Instagram @thebridgebg

I don’t think it’s condoning, it’s more affirming their sin. The tag line says “He gets us.” Instead of saying “do we get Him?” Or they could have made an ad about how people changed after coming to Jesus. THAT would have been more affective. In today’s world the media wants more about affirming sin than being focused on Jesus so much that by remaining your eyes on Him you let go of your past sins. Your mindset changes. Thats the true repentance.
@jrra13

You can serve the lost, without condoning their sin, but the commercial is definitely affirming their sin. You can't call out the sins of unbelievers and not acknowledge what they are doing is evil. Even with the most popular example of mercy in John 8:1-11 about not casting the first stone. Jesus tells her to go and sin no more. Jesus still calls her to repent, which is conveniently overlooked by those who are more concerned about the unbelievers feelings. No one is suggesting we kill unbelievers, but an unbeliever should feel shame for living against God when they are in the presence of God and his people. This commercial's approach is still pragmatic. Your still trying to sell non Christians Jesus. "Look, Jesus gets you." Yes, he does. "Jesus is not mad at you"... yes he is. So much so that he will send you to Hell for eternity. Lecrae says their goal was not to share the gospel, but to give non-Christians a new perspective on Christianity. They achieved that goal and gave them a Universalist perspective. 🤦🏾

That's the thing, our current cultural context is filled with many many churches that call sinful lifestyles ok, and blessed by God.... this commercial is a terrible thing to put out considering that context... worse yet their website in the about us page has a spot where it talks about LGBTQ. And doesn't say much more then Jesus loves all.... which true but his loves calls For us to repent. And the website says nothing about that as it regards that issue.

All this commercial did was show the bias that we don’t love people as Jesus calls us to do so. I can love and serve people and still stand in my own moral convictions and beliefs. You don’t have to be like me, look like me, agree with my cultural ways or habits in order for me to love you like Jesus calls us to do. We have confused being holy and righteous by pointing out the sins and corruptions of others as upholding Gods law and have blindly allowed a religious spirit to overtake us and ignore the finished work of Christ. @@jewelelfers2802 I can't speak for Rebecca But my assumption was that she was making reference to the commercial, not ur comment about Yeshua dying for the world. I would go further and mention the website. In their FAQ there is a question about their stance on lgbtq, their answers that God loves everybody including gays and trans people. That's great that's not wrong but it's not the full truth it doesn't come with the call for repentance it doesn't come with the truth, that it is a sin to live in that lifestyle they don't mention any of that. Love doesn't give half truths. If love was only saying that Yeshua died for the world then none of the Apostles or Yeshua himself would call people to repent or warn about judgment. When I was younger my youth leader was a gay man who lived the life of abstinence cause he knew that that lifestyle was sin. He also had a side Ministry that was focused on reaching to the people of his community the lgbtq. He hated when groups or other Ministries dealt in half-truths as it came to this particular issue because he saw that in our culture that we were moving towards more and more acceptance of that lifestyle within the faith. This was a couple decades ago and in the last couple decades what he was worried about is exactly what happened. More and more of the church calls lgbtq just another expression of God's love. That is our current cultural context. And when we have a ministry that proclaims Yeshua/Jesus but can't call that lifestyle a sin there's an issue. Everything they actually say in that particular FAQ is fine, but they never says its a sin or worng. We are living in a moment when the words of Romans 1:18-32 are materializing before our very eyes this is not the time for half truths (never has been the time) quite literally The Souls of people are depending on the full truth being spoken. Not half truths that will lead them to a congregation that tells them that they can live in their sin and that God is perfectly okay with it. This leads to destruction. This is what my youth leader who again was a gay man, spoke about and agianst 20 years ago. Evil is truly Insidious let us not forget that the Bible warns us that Satan himself will appear like an angel. Seriously let us take such a warning to Heart think about what that actually means. Half truths are quite literally Satan's currency. We would do well to not deal in it!!!

But then when those people go looking for a church they will most likely fall into progressive churches because truth preaching churches are “offensive” to sin. It’s a slippery slope when we start trying to paint Jesus as palatable to the world. We are to love but I try my best not to misrepresent Jesus. Following Jesus is not for everyone. That is a heartbreaking fact. We are to count the cost so people need to know the truth, plain and simple.

This. This is why I disagree with the commercial. Someone with a secular worldview is only going to get half of the picture of the Gospel, the love of Christ without the acknowledgement of sin and repentance. And should they then look further into the message of the organization, it is only going to reinforce an understanding of a Christ who loves and accepts everyone Exactly as they are. Christ says He will meet us where we are, but He also calls us to repent... He Gets Us isn't glorifying the Jesus of the bible. The Babylon Bee has the best satirical pov about the "Jesus" of He Gets Us, imo.

This was such a great discussion! I disliked the comments of people complaining about how much money they spent on the commercial. “Jesus wouldn’t have spent $28M on a commercial, he would’ve fed the hungry.” --Jesus turned water to wine and fed 5,000 off of five loaves of bread and two fish and you think he would’ve needed $28M? 🤨 The way I see it is, millions of people saw a different portrayal of Christ (the Christ that serves) on one of the most tuned-in nights on TV. That’s huge. None of us were in the conference room discussing how they were going to spend that money. Some of them may have WANTED to spend the money in other ways, but what if God told them to buy a commercial slot and they had to be obedient and do it? We simply don’t know. Not everyone’s God-ordained ministry is to feed the hungry. God uses and blesses everyone to reach others in different ways. We spend entirely too much time arguing about matters that are God’s business and not ours.

More so he said to go and sin no more, repent, done miracles, good deeds and ultimately died and rose for them so believe in Him and have everlasting life! The problem is that they are misrepresenting who Jesus is and what He did. He did come to affirm our sinful lifestyle and that “He gets us” but to change, transform us from darkness to light. Love of Christ is so watered down to “ how I want God to treat me “ 🤦♂️ To share the gospel is to point people to Jesus. My main concern about the commercial is that I felt like they were shaming folks for standing on their beliefs and what they feel is what God is calling them to do (like the protestors at the abortion clinic). We have to examine the word of God and ask ourselves, does this line up with what I see (the ad in particular). Read John 13. The context of Jesus washing the disciples feet was for the disciples or believers to serve one another. Jesus said “I give you this commandment, love one another as I have loved you”. He was speaking to the disciples who were following Jesus. The commandment “love your neighbor as yourself” still applies but this particular act was to the disciples, for the disciples. To the believer, for the believer. So if they put out a video for the nonbeliever with not understanding the biblical context of what was happening, it’s a false message. Jesus did teach hate. Hate of sin. He flipped over tables. We’ve gotten off track of what’s Holy and we’re on the road of what caters to us. Lukewarm faith. We accept this but not in its entirety. Study the word and stand on it. Because things like this are leading many astray. God bless.

The main problem with what you're saying is that you are proposing to do this better than Jesus did. He spoke the truth only. He wasn't concerned about what your context was. He was concerned only with your salvation He was not concerned with your feelings but with your freedom. He turned away fast more people than he attracted. Yet today's church is way not concerned with being attractive to the world. Jesus never was. His followers didn't condemn you? Jesus and the apostles all said repent and follow me. Christians today are afraid to say the same. Cultural christianity is destroying the culture. The standard is human standard instead of Jesus standard. You don't need to water down Jesus message.

Insinuating that Jesus is accepting of homosexuality, that u can just play God & he will welcome you & treat u like everyone else. & taking the spiritual importance of the foot washing, & reduced it to nothing more than a servant's act of representing being enslaved/less than. John 13:10+11: Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean." And you are clean, but not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.” --- The only people that ever had their feet washed by Jesus are his disciples. They had repented of their sinful lives and left their former lives to follow Jesus wherever he went. Jesus didn't cuddle people who were wilfully sinning and planning to stay in their sin. Judas is the only exception to the feet washing, and he is the exception in a lot of ways. But you probably shouldn't want to be in his position... If you are, the feet washing might as well be condemnation. You'll be called unclean by Jesus while He's washing your feet.

I think the main issue is that the messaging is vague. For example, when it says 'Jesus didn't teach hate.' Many in today's society would consider simply holding to a biblical sex ethic as 'hateful.' Pair that with the picture of the LGBT person. What is the message? It could be affirming or not. Then, if you go to their website looking for clarity, their answer to that question is equally vague. And, like Ruslan pointed out, this sort of vagueness pisses off people on both sides of an issue. I get that it's a 30 second add, but you could at least say where you stand on your website. Then again, maybe they're afraid if they show all their cards people won't sign up for the bible reading plans. Fine, but do the bible reading plans address these issues? I don't know. I'm not saying we ought to single out this issue, but it is something that eventually has to be addressed as part of a biblicak worldview, just like the abortion issue.

I’m not saying you’re 100% wrong, but The problem with a 30 second commercial that is created to give the audience the position of interpreting “the meaning”, is an issue. If their real goal was to “serve and not accept”, make that clear. Everyone plays in this safe middle ground by creating/speaking with no clear stance, causing a response (which is what the ultimately want) and the position to critique the interpretation the audience comes to. Because there is no clarity. So everyone has the ability to take away what they choose to take away from it.

We've all been given different talents, resources, and gifts in order to present the gospel and help lead others to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. In our knowledge of the word and passion to lead others it's so easy to behave like Pharisee even as God is still working within us, Lord knows I've been there. May God strengthen and remind all of us to continue to shine our various lights ; may the Holy spirit show us how to display God's word in service and love (tough and soft), so everyone may draw nearer to him in a real way. In Jesus mighty name amen.

The devil wants you to think you are OK where youre at. That Jesus gets you and approves of you right where your at. He doesn't, we must cleanse our selfs to approach His glory. Yeah he loves you but I'm pretty sure where your at is an abomination to Him. Repent and be Baptised.

The problem is with his take. The commercial wasn't about ministry, and serving people to show them the love of christ, that just obviously wasn't the point, the point was obviously to promote a leftist viewpoint of christianity, the commerical was charged with leftist propaganda, not christian love. Yes, we need to serve the people no one is willing to love. But this was political. The entire "he gets us" program is all about progressivism, and promotes sin.

There's a reason why your spirit didn't take the commercial when you first saw it. And trust me it wasn't your flash it was your spirit. Yes, the washing of feet is about servitude, it's about His blood that washes us clean. Jesus, the perfect lamb that was sacrificed for sinful man. Jesus set for us the perfect example of pure servitude, humility, and obedience. Which are all words the world hates. The washing of feet points to Jesus. This commercial points to creation. As if the washing of feet means that Jesus gets us. This is not about Jesus's getting us but instead about him transforming us. He makes us a new creation in Him.

Jesus was teaching the disciples to be servant leaders, so in correct context the commercial was for Christians. The passage doesn't show Jesus washing the feet of those who reject his truth. I think if they used the woman at the well or the woman caught in adultery, it would make more sense in terms of reaching unbelievers. I suppose however they wanted to portray an accepting Jesus. An issue is that the commercial is ambiguous in terms of what they are saying about Jesus not teaching hate. Does this mean be kind and serve non believers or accept sin? What is the implied hate?

I've listen to numerous analyzers of that super bowl ad and yours is hands down, the best. On target. Nicely said. Regardless of how the commercial was intended, we can use it for good. A few days ago, I asked a friend what he thought about the commercial and it started a meaningful discussion of Christianity. It was a non-threatening springboard for a more thoughtful discussion. So bless you and your ministry. I don't often subscribe but I will subscribe to this one right now.

The language and images we use to portray biblical principles are very important. There is usually an unspoken agenda to these kinds of projects, especially ones that cost as much as this. If the mission distorts or doesn’t align with biblical truth it needs to be reconsidered.

Hello Lecrae I pray your doing good. I agree with you in a lot of things you said in this video. Here’s where I stand with this ad. First I want to make it clear I try to live to the best of my ability obeying the 2 greatest commandments. Love God with all you heart, mind, and soul. Love your neighbor as yourself. I also tatoo what Love is in First corinthians chapter 13. Ministry is nothing without Love. The ad in my opinion is not of God. You mentioned the priest washing the LGBT person but you was completely silent on The lady washing the feet of another lady in front of a abortion clinic. I wonder why? The only people Jesus washed the feet of in the Bible are his disciples. In John chapter 13 when Jesus washed their feet and Judas is implied of not being their he went to turn Jesus in! He never washed feet of a nonbeliever. This ad implies Jesus washed the feet of people against God and People who believe. that is not what the word teach or say. To me it is adding to the Word of God which we are commanded not to do. Jesus would not wash a feet of a lady who killed a child. I know you was talking about serving them. If that is the case there was a much truthful way of doing it. That situation was Jesus teaching the disciples on how far you should go for a neighbor in Christ. Who Believes Jesus is the Christ son of the Living God. This ad is trying to mix the Bible and the World by slightly bending a true situation that Jesus did do but failed to go into details of who he did it for. Yes we serve everyone with humbleness and Love but not if it is against God’s Will. I will help feed a LGBT family no problem. But I’m not going to their wedding. I will help or pay a lady her rent. But I’m not gonna drive her to a abortion clinic. I pray you revisit what this ad implying to none believers compared to what the Bible teaches! I love you brother God Bless

I’d rather they mistakenly think Jesus condones than think Jesus doesn’t love and didn’t come to serve them too. When Paul preaches that Jesus is the unknown God, he doesn’t start bu saying, “All these other shrines are to false gods.” You can’t clarify your position with a person who won’t even talk to you.

When you mentioned us not leaving room for the spirit to work, that rang true. I prayed for years for my family to get saved, thinking that I could do it. I'm not up to the task, but God is. My prayer have changed this year from "please save them" to "please send your spirit to badger them, so they know you're real." Only God can do it. Unless God's spirit speaks to a person, they will not come to an understanding of Jesus. I appreciate you and your music. Thanks for the message.

I think the biggest problem with the commercial regardless of their goal it implies something that is unbiblical Yeshua never washed the feet of those in open Rebellion against him he washed the feet of those who had wholly dedicated their lives to him. Let's not forget the context of our Modern Age is that we have a bulk of many churches who actually approve and or blessed some truly sinful lifestyles. And yes they supposedly are reading the same Bible we are. We live in a culture where are faith is so watered down that I truly believe it to be quite irresponsible to put out such a commercial that can be so easily taken as reassuring those who live in complete Rebellion against God in the path they have chosen because in reality there are so many people in Christian circles that are already telling them that... Even in the he gets Us website they answer the question about their stance on lgbtq. The answer is that Jesus loves everyone.. ok great but that isn't the question.... and again the context of our current Faith here in America is a watering down on this issue over the last couple decades. So the question isn't some out of left field out of nowhere kind of question it's actually quite pivotal to the ongoing struggle in the current faith today. You don't see such question dodging responses from Paul or Peter or any of the Apostles on this issue. So why do we approach it differently? Mattityahu (Mat) 7:21-23 CJB [21] “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, only those who do what my Father in heaven wants. [22] On that Day, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord! Didn’t we prophesy in your name? Didn’t we expel demons in your name? Didn’t we perform many miracles in your name?’ [23] Then I will tell them to their faces, ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!’ I get the intentions of the organization I do but let's not forget that Yeshua and the apostles have the same intentions and yet even with those intentions their call to the masses wasn't just "Jesus loves you" it was repent and come to the Lord for judgment is coming. Acts of Emissaries of Yeshua (Act) 17:27-31 CJB [27] God did this so that people would look for him and perhaps reach out and find him although in fact, he is not far from each one of us, [28] ‘for in him we live and move and exist.’ Indeed, as some of the poets among you have said, ‘We are actually his children.’ [29] So, since we are children of God, we shouldn’t suppose that God’s essence resembles gold, silver or stone shaped by human technique and imagination. [30] “In the past, God overlooked such ignorance; but now he is commanding all people everywhere to turn to him from their sins. [31] For he has set a Day when he will judge the inhabited world, and do it justly, by means of a man whom he has designated. And he has given public proof of it by resurrecting this man from the dead.” Paul speaking to a culture that really isn't all that different from ours. So why do we take a different approach?

Judas’ feet were washed during that moment, too. It was after the fact that he left the room to betray him. It’s all in John 13.
@nathanieldiaz2845

@@tosinsanusi8025 You are correct however I would add that this most likely made his condemnation a lot worse which isn't exactly a net positive. Moreover he was an active follower as opposed to somebody who's out in complete rejection. It should be noted that nowhere in John 13 do we see the feet of an active Pagan being washed. And while my initial post started with that that was the least of my worries as it involves this commercial everything else I said in the post is much more important to the matter at hand than the washing of the feet, honestly if the feet washing thing was the only issue it wouldn't matter to me. We live in a time where there is a heretical form of Christianity that teaches that people can live in their sin and be in a relationship with God. We would do well both for ourselves and those who we minister to, to show a very stark differentiation between us and those who Proclaim such a false gospel. Honestly commercial being what it is whether I like it or not if I were to go to their website and in the area where they talk about this specific issue and they made it clear that that is a sinful lifestyle then honestly I wouldn't myself be making an issue of this. The tactic of half-trues is the devil's currency it's Satan's playpen if you will. Yeshua and the disciples did not speak in half truths when ministering to people because half-truths don't set people free. The Truth in its fullness is what sets people free it is not a loving thing to speak half-truths to a person like this it leds to confusion, our father isnt the God of confusion.

I definitely appreciate the challenge to understand the context and audience that the commercial is targeting. My concern is that the idea of Jesus "getting us" could easily communicate that He condones the lifestyle/action/sin that they depict in the commercial. I love your analogy of you talking with your son, ministering to those in prison, and Jesus with the thief on the cross - we must think about the relationship and the need to communicate the love of God...the difference in each of those however is that there is either a clear communication ("son, you know you disappointed me") or a mutual understanding (in prison, on the cross) of sin and its consequences. Repentance is an essential part of faith in Christ - we can't hold so tightly onto our sin and just "add Jesus to the mix." We need to communicate grace and love and build bridges to the true Jesus, not a Jesus that fits our own standard and lifestyle. Thank you for your perspective on this. I am thankful that this commercial has led to many a conversation about Christ and not only the importance of communicating the gospel but also understanding that HOW we communicate it really matters. Keep doing what you're doing. Praying for you and the countless souls that you encourage and minister to through music and other means!

I was curious about that ad too. I appreciate the way you have explained it brother. This was the very thing that Jesus was criticized about, talking and be-friending sinners. But He left a path that we should follow too. Whether with one talent or many, we have to be faithful. Our number one goal in ministry is to please God and not our Christian constructs. God bless you Lecrae and your family.

I had to look up the word in the dictionary to understand how he was using it and there are two ways it can be used. One is the way we already know about; the negative & patronizing. It also can mean "to stoop to a lower level or to do something that one considers to be below son's dignity". Example: He would not condescend to misrepresent the facts. It's definitely a tricky word with mostly negative connotations. I hope this helps!

I think my real issue with the commercial is that it does give off the vibe of acceptance. I think the message was good but delivery was not the greatest to benefit the kingdom.. He gets us that we are in need of Him. Thats the extent of it. He doesn’t get us that we have our own lives and He is okay with it… that is what the commercial message portrays in my eyes. I’m not being critical only subjective and seeing from both sides. Saying the right thing the wrong way is as detrimental as simply saying the wrong thing. I’m a youth minister and that’s how I serve. I am very very careful in my wording and my message. Because we are playing with the image of the Holy God who yes absolutely loves us dearly. But again, He doesn’t get we are heathens and rolls with it. He gets we are heathens and expects our repentance of sins and ultimately recognizing our position with Him as sinners. As servants of the most high God we are not to drive people away out of fear and rebuking. We are to love the neighbor as thyself. But giving any inclination that He accepts our sin is a very very fine line in this culture and the commercial implied that too much in its delivery. Again, I appreciate the overall message. We are to serve and drive people towards a loving God and DISCIPLE them. The word is for reproof and for rebuking. We must remind our fellow believers of Gods wrath and Gods delight in our fear of Him (it’s scripture look it up). But we certainly should not preach fear to the unbeliever. Thats my two cents as a servant of the Lord.
