6:34 still love that detail when Zuko visits Iroh, even though Iroh is the one in prison, most shots show Zuko as the one behind bars. Shows you whos truly trapped here.

Hippos DO eat meat, yeh. They even fight with crocodiles for zebras, gnus, etc. Only because they look cute, doesn't mean they're vegetarian. xD

You almost noticed there really was no ulterior motive to what Azula said to Zuko! But I realize the narrative really steers people in the direction of hating her even more than the actual Fire Lord.

Ah, the Footloose episode! A fine one, indeed! 😁 Also, the obligatory "Zuko/Iroh scenes are framed so that Zuko looks like the actual prisoner" comment, I guess. But I also find it interesting that we switch to one of these scenes shortly after Aang explains how dancing is a form of freedom.....

Aokiji/ Kuzan first appearance in the Manga (12/15/03), Followed by his first appearance in the Anime (03/27/05) over 2 years before the first air date of this episode of Avatar (09/28/07) Coincidence? I think not! All jokes aside it is funny that you reacted to this episode we're Aang goes by the Kuzan alias right as your wrapping up the arc in One Piece where admiral Kuzan is introduced.

All the 'firenation slang' that Aang knows is completely made up by monk Gyatso. Gyatso was just messing with him!

"Everyone turns to the flag. Such a weird thing to do." I'm a rather proud patriot. It's weird to be patriotic? It's weird to be proud of ones country? Look at everyone else in the world and how they're proud of their own country in their own ways. Why's it become such a thing to hate on or think low of American Patriotism? All of the other countries peoples have patriots of their own and nobody comments about that.

We don’t discriminate between American patriotism and patriotism of other countries to that degree For us personally, we think it’s strange to hold allegiance to a government that sees you as disposable. And as a citizen of the present, I don’t personally identify with people who I never met, who simply walked on the same dirt before me. I identify with my current community, but where the flag that community gathers under has a leaf, or Stars and Stripes, is irrelevant to my outlook. So from that perspective, it seems really culty to watch a group of children who don’t even know their own personalities, pledging their undying loyalty to a system that is ambivalent to their existence. It’s a trick to make people feel like they have something, so that they can be used by the government as tools for a higher purpose that may or may not benefit the collective.
