good to know and see this. i have made steel cut oats in the past, but didn't use any of the ingredients listed, other than cinnamon. i cooked the oats in a combo of milk and butter, then when done/thickened enough, into bowl with a bit more milk of some kind (i think i used almond milk, actually), cinnamon, sliced apples, butter, and pecans. will still use my recipe, i think, but with additions of chia seeds, which i have in fridge. can't imagine...putting olive oil into it, but guessing it can't hurt.....

Here is my recipe 1/2 cups organic old fashion rolled oats, add spring or filtered water to cover the oat about 3" above the top of the oats, add t tsp of crushed flax seeds add 1 tsp organic cinnamon cook on medium heat when start to boil add 1 TB unrefined organic coconut oil let cook about 2 minutes after start boiling. While cooking peel apple and dice up into your serving bowl and wash fresh organic blueberries and add 1/3 cup to the serving bowl and 1/4 cup chopped walnuts. 👍👍👍 .. great post, thanks. My mid-morning breakfast for years has been .. * Five Tablespoons Oats, Salt, Teaspoon Cinnamon, 1/4 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper. Put into a glass jar (a dedicated 500g Peanut Butter Jar) and topped up with boiling water to soak overnight. * The next morning, I dump the contents into a pot to warm up and then add 200ml Milk, a mashed Banana (left to 'brown' for a while as this appears to sweeten it), the finely chopped banana peel, a dollop of Hazel or Peanut Butter and half a finely chopped Carrot. This keeps me going until Supper. * Should there be spare other fruit in the vicinity (apple, mango, peaches, mandarin, pear, whatever), I substitute the banana with said fruit (or, just add it with the banana if feeling particularly greedy on the day 😏). Leftover Yoghurt, Fresh thick Cream and such has also found itself 'in the pot'. I hate food going to waste. I make it a point to include, inter alia, a Tomato, Onion and Carrot in my daily food intake .. raw .. Peppers, Cucumber and Lettuce too. Outdoor breakfasts .. I substitute the glass jar with a plastic one (I lower the temperature of the water added) and use powdered milk in place of the fresh stuff. The 'extra weight' 🙄 carting the pre-soaked oats? The liquid required for the oats has to be carried anyway .. just how, differs. Post lunch snack? A slice of 'Basler Brot' (a local daily in-store-baked Swiss Bread .. delicious!) .. toasted if old, otherwise fresh. Soaked with Vinegar and Olive Oil. Add Salt, Black Pepper and Cayenne Pepper to taste. Top with Tomato Paste and then a layer of finely-sliced fresh Garlic. Yumm 😊. The Garlic? I'm 74 years of age and have long stopped concerning myself about others' 'sensitivity' to the after effects of said consumption 😏.

Plaque doesnt get removed. It can only be reduced by lowering inflammation and removing calcium from the plaque making it slightly smaller.

I used to love my morning steel cut oats, then a nutritionist advised me to stop eating them because of the carb content. I am constantly confused by what I should eat. One person says yes, then the next says no to what I think I should eat. It's driving me crazy!!
@kevinjackson2314

It's not about carbs, it is also about your daily macros and about how MANY carbs meaning if you eat your daily allotment of complex carbs and stay within your daily caloric intake you will be fine. Sounds like your Dr. Or nutritionist is is promoting Keto. Keto has been proven unsustainable. It is OK if one is severely obese but not long term. Hope that hope that helps.
You are right. Just have anything you fancy but have a variety, have only one rule, to cut down on sugary things.

I am confused too I am a 59-year-old woman 5'8 160 lb. I have high cholesterol and triglycerides. I'm having trouble understanding how keto is going to help me. I had been eating oatmeal everyday and my doctor as well told me to cut out carbs. I've been feeling like crap on this keto diet. I had to go on a statin and I don't want to be on it but I don't know what else to do I've been walking 30 minutes a day. Think I'm going to go back to eating my oatmeal but watch all of my other carbs and no processed food

It’s a bowl of carbs. Not enough protein or fat. You talk about blood sugar but not about how this breakfast will spike your blood sugar. It will also feed the bad gut bacteria. I’d recommend adding a hard boiled egg and avocado half. Also add chia, flax and walnuts together and leave out the sweetener.

Insufficient protein was exactly my first thought. Am thinking I will try with some organic protein powder, maybe vanilla flavored. Unfortunately, I don't care very much for eggs and avocados are not something I want to eat frequently, although sounds like a great option.

How about Bob’s organic oatbran instead of steel cut oats? Tastier, softer and maybe even higher in fiber? Raw steel cut oats arent very tasty, have annoying texture and are arguable on their digestion factor for human guts… And as far as cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon opposed to regular, everything else is great

The doctor gave no advice on the liquid necessary to make such a combination of dry ingredients palatable and readily swallowed. May I recommend combining all those ingredients with a cup of coconut water and allowing the steel cut oats particularly to soften. Otherwise, with only olive oil as the liquid, it will not be very palatable at all.
